Is Plame that powerful? Can covert agents authorize the sending of a aformer ambasador on a fact-finding mission to a foreign country on the eve of a war? She might have suggested Wilson because of his experience and contacts in Niger, but Rove said she "authorized" his going. That doesn't make sense. Tenet could authorize it. Maybe Rice as NSA. Colin Powell. Bush. Cheney. But not Plame.

Get your hip waders, boys, the shit is getting deeper by the minute!

1. Others in the know have confirmed this is a laughable concept
like Timothy Noah of Slate.

2. Earlier it was reported that she told someone in authority

about her husband's specialty and qualifications. That person went into a meeting and when he came out he informed her that Wilson was choosen.

That's what I remember.

Thread on multiple indictments Rove is likely facing:

3. As the others have said, no
...and Joe Wilson was hardly an unknown among Iraq specialists in the White House. He'd been acting ambassador to Iraq, in Iraq, DURING Gulf War I. Bush Sr. (GHWB) said some famously nice things about Wilson's guts and integrity at the time.

It's not like he needed his wife to bring him up when dealing with Iraq issues.

4. Sure!
And I'm going to "authorize" myself a trip to Maine next month to look at seabirds. I'm further thinking that cheaptickets.com is a good channel to pursue said "authorization."

5. She was in a conference with her bosses
Someone said, we better check this out. How can we do it. She said, my husband is familiar with the people in Niger. Her boss said, see if he'll check it out for us, we'll pay the expenses. Period.
