Why is this scandal (Rovergate) different from all other scandals? |
|
For five years now, we have been watching the Bush junta blithely skip from outrage to outrage. With each new revelation, we think "this has to be the one to catch fire and sink these morons". Then we watch in amazement as the press snores. Why is this different? Simple, we don't have to rely on the press to give this legs. This scandal is different because (and only because) there is a prosecutor breathing down their necks. Whether or not Rove goes down is entirely up to Fitzgerald, not tweety et al. I like those odds

1. For the reason you mentioned |
|
plus the fact that there's one of their own in the pokey. That was sure to wake a few of them up.

3. There is a chance it will bring the whole lot of WH access to and |
|
manipulation of "intel" to the forefront. It may not just be about Rove & Plame. It could include the whole WMD issue too. Think how that info was used to politic the WH policies (including war).

And everything they accused Clinton of doesn't pale in comparison. They are their own worst enemy.

7. It's WAR CRIMES -- greater than seen in 60 years! |
|
The invasion and occupation of Iraq has been based on a deliberate FRAUD!
The WHIG (Rove, Libby, Card, Rice, Hadley, et. al.) was formed for the specific purpose of orchestrating the FRAUD.
Plame was a WMD intelligence specialist in the field. Totally undercover. There's little doubt that some of her work showed the fraudulent intel for what it was.
The Niger Uranium Hoax was the weakest link. It could bring down the House of Card/Bush/Cheney if there's enough honest people left in D.C. ... which I doubt.

8. Enough with the X-gate crap |
|
It is no longer an effective frame, it has been overused to the point where it trivializes the issue at hand. This isn't a -Gate thing, this is a matter of national security and malfeasance at the highest levels of government. It doesn't need a quick short name.
