Why is Woodward such an ass kisser for the Bush admin?

press lusts after in Washington. Who you can rub elbows with, be seen with, whom you can have it be known is letting you into the back rooms (and then you get to swagger around the local watering hole like the big shot everybody now thinks you are).

Access. It's their mothers' milk. They all know they can be frozen out if they don't behave like good little boys and girls, and then where will they be with their editors, producers, and supervisors barking to them on their cell phones to GET THE STORY, or GET THE DAMNED INTERVIEW, DAMMIT!

the run up to Iraq War showed us how incompetent and vain Rumsfield was. WH has already been 'burned' by Woodward's reporting. Because they were so sure of their sorry plans for a quick Iraqi victory.

My guess is Woodward would want another source and to do that he has to show himself to be partisan and a neocon. Nobody with inside information on any Rove or Libby crime is going to be drinking anything but the Kool-aid. You have to drink it to get anywhere near them. So Woodward must be mirroring them - in order to get more access.
