I am glad I dropped my aol account today. It was getting to expensive anyway. Looks like I finally have a good reason to give up soda pop with pepsi. The only ones that I am going to have a tough time abolishing from my routine is microsoft and ups any suggestions?

3. Use open source software as alternative to Microsoft

Open Office works just as well as MS office, the only problem is that it can be a little bit of a pain to convert to MS office if you need to print on another computer. But hey, Open Office is free and Microsoft Office will set you back a few hundred bucks, so it's a good tradeoff.

Realistically, it's very hard to boycott windows. If you can live with it use Linux. Personally, I run a copy of Windows 2000 that I bought a few years ago and simply haven't upgraded ever since. I really have had no need to.

Do you know if there is companys that donate to the dnc as well? Oh Ill give open source a try but I am the most computer illiterate person in the world but i will still give it a shot if it will take money out of President Bush's hands.

But start by going to openoffice.org

You can download Open Office and read about it there. If you have any more questions just give me a PM. Personally, I think that it's a little unrealistic to try and boycott all corporations that donate to the GOP, but frankly Microsoft is on my shitlist for two reasons...

One, their software is ridiculously overpriced and they always try to market a new version with very few new features and a few hundred dollar upgrade price tag.

Two, they program the software on the Diebold voting machines. Now I'm not implying that they were involved in a grand plot to rig the election for Bush, but frankly I think that they could do a better job making more secure software.

Also, my computer geek friend will give me serious props if I convert someone to the world of open source software.

I'm not absolving them from being on the list, but I'm also not going to rush out and switch OS. Hell, if I did that I would totally screw up my ability to do work from home since sometimes my best work comes when I do it outside of the office.

However, outside my OS and Office system there are many ways we can avoid Microsoft products - namely a long list of non-essential software (games) and even computer components (aka mice, keyboards, etc). It's a start, but since I know they also contribute big to the democratic party they're low on my hitting list

here but they give 43% to dems. They are such a huge corporation that even though they rate 2nd in amount they aren't as bad as a smaller company that just didn't spend that much on political donations.

21. I think this is a good start of who to boycott

It's hard trying to be totally blue. I found it would cost me an extra $500/year for me to switch my car insurance company to a blue company. I mean, I want to sock it to red companies but at the cost of my own savings.

The only name slightly deceptive on that list is Microsoft. They may appear 'red' becaus they're in the top 25, but they also happen to contribute equally as much to the democrats.
