We cannot allow the story to only be about whether a crime
has been committed. Even if no indictments come down, the Bush regime has demonstrated its basic venality in a couple of stunning ways.
The Republicans have put their prime political tactic of smearing the reputation of anyone who stands in their way to use in the destruction of someone who has dedicated her professional career to defending her country. They have done this without regard to the effect on our nation's effort to control the spread of nuclear weapons Then they told some very clumsy, public and refutable lies about it.
The Democrats are right to jump on this now by demanding Rove's resignation. If he and others are indicted, there will be some wonderful opportunities to attack these bullies. But if there is no further prosecution, we have to get the message forcefully to the American people that Little George and his regime are vicious, deceitful thugs for whom keeping power is more important than the security of the USA.

1. YES
It is a interesting view point on this story:

did Rove put political gamesmanship before the security of this country? Are Repubs weak on security? Is their whole strategy for fighting terrorism based more on political gamesmanship than actually trying to make the American people safer?

3. Vicious, deceitful thugs .. indeed.
I agree .. crime or no crime, it is still despicable behavior. It is now obvious why the media is totally cowed. Rove has them by the balls.

6. Milbank of the WAPO says that DC is Rove's town and Bush
and everyone else just live there. That quote shows the depth of the influence KR exerts on the MSM toadies and would suggest that those in the know smell his blood in the water to be pursuing this as aggressively as some are.

5. By the time an actual crime's been committed, one is already deeply ugly
"Crime" is that which is sanctioned by society to remove one from the fold. There's usually plenty of abuse and truly nasty behavior that's gone on before something is actionable.
