All this talk about her being "just" an analyst is hogwash. I remember seeing CIA reps on TV just after this happened who said she was undercover. And this from Newsday at that time:

Columnist Blows CIA Agent's Cover
by Timothy M. Phelps and Knut Royce

WASHINGTON - The identity of an undercover CIA officer whose husband started the Iraq uranium intelligence controversy has been publicly revealed by a conservative Washington columnist citing "two senior administration officials."

Intelligence officials confirmed to Newsday yesterday that Valerie Plame, wife of retired Ambassador Joseph Wilson, works at the agency on weapons of mass destruction issues in an undercover capacity - at least she was undercover until last week when she was named by columnist Robert Novak.

For a great historical review of the entire matter, this website has paragraphs detailing every significant event in this case from the very beginning. I just found out from reading this that Simple Scottie had to testify before the Grand Jury. And .. not only were the Air Force One phone records from the Africa trip subpoenaed, but also a "transcript" of a Press Briefing in Africa. Appears that press briefing transcript disappeared from the WH website.

This is a fun page to read:

<snip>

But I'm a sneaky little bastard, and I just changed the url for the July 11, 2003 briefing (it took several tries) to see if the actual transcript was still on the site.

AND HERE IT IS!!!"

NOW, HERE'S WHAT WE'RE ASKING EVERYONE TO DO:

SEND AN EMAIL OR PHONE THE PROSECUTOR THIS HIDDEN EVIDENCE

<snip>

UPDATE! THE MISSING PAGE HAS BEEN RE-INSTALLED ON THE WHITE HOUSE WEBSITE - IT LOOKS LIKE EITHER NEWSDAY'S ARTICLE OR YOUR WRITING/CALLING THE JUSTICE DEPT MADE ALL THE DIFFERENCE!

2. A friend's father was with the CIA
The kids were told his job was "political analyst at the Pentagon." When they got older they started joking around about how he was really a spy. So dad had to sit them down and tell them that he WAS a spy at the CIA and they should cool that kind of talk.

3. Simple point:
If there wasn't a serious cover to be blown, then why didn't they all come clean about this 2 years ago?

4. They want to have it both ways...
One the one hand they want to declare that Plame was just an "analyst"... while at the same time asserting that she had the authority to send Joseph Wilson to Niger.

They can't be correct on both counts, but they certainly can be incorrect on both... and they are DELIBERATELY incorrect on both.
