One of the things that really irritates me about them is that they simply don't tolerate any views other than their own. If you disagree with them, they attack for the kill.

Unfortunately for them, our form of government works best when we have dissent that keeps either party from doing anything extreme.

I just really, REALLY hate it when someone tries to obstruct my freedom of speech. I call it thought control because it's what they seem to be trying to do. They've read Orwell too many times, I guess. Too bad no one told them that Orwell didn't write 1984 as a treatise on creating the Bush government!

It really does feel like I'm living in a dictatorship. A sad day for the US.

It makes me want to run out and tell everyone the opposite of everything they say just because I still can. :evilgrin:

In his Fox News rant about why Rove should get a medal for blowing Plame's cover, he said that the real problem being investigated at the time of the leak was why a "peacenik" was sent to Niger to justify the war.

In other words, only those following lockstep should have been allowed to work for the administration - anyone daring to provide an opposing view should be at a desk job in the basement, perhaps doing clerical work.

It's supposed to be encouraging to know that this type of government is weak, because a little exposure would tumble their house of cards.

I keep hearing the RWers say that Dems are insane, actually mentally challenged, because we don't swallow everything they say whole, and ask for more.

Another alarming thing is the way the misadministration has a large number of people afraid to speak their minds, as if the gulag (there, I said it!) at GITMO yawns in anticipation of the arrival of those who'd dare voice dissent.

Sure, the type of government we're racing headlong into is bound to fall, but many before, just as corrupt, have lasted for centuries before being brought down.

5. I agree absolutely.

One of the things that revolted me in the Republican party was the move to that total lock-step mind control thing. That's just plain unAmerican.

I've been around a long time, and I've never seen our government so eerily echo a dictatorship. It gives me the willies.

I love my country because of the Constitution, our guaranteed freedoms, and our shared ideology. Having someone try to shove some kind of fascism down my throat makes me want to puke.

11. war on terror or reign of terror?

These freaks are trying to punish people for not being sufficiently pro-regime. Frankly, more people are terrorized by them than the so-called "terrorists" within the US' own borders as far as I can tell.

The parallel with Robespierre should indeed be disturbing. I, for one, regard it as only a matter of time before they resort to his methods.

10. It is pretty screwed up that, as a democrat, I am not allowed to hear

our dictator speak in public. Only if you are a member of "the party" are you allowed that privilege.

Hell, I pay taxes that support this government...I have every right to hear the Fuhrer speak if I so desire.
