Our Response to Today's RW Talking Points about Rove -

1. Plame not covert agent. Remember, the CIA referred the case to the Justice Dept. Remember: anonymous CIA agency official said (about making referral) "If she was not undercover, we would have no reason to file a criminal referral."

2. Concurring opinion in appellate case, judge was for privilege as a concept, but said in this case, privilege would not apply - cited Fitzgerald's arguments for this - arguments based on top secret information which was all blacked out in judge's decision. Courts have supported Fitzgerald in his position that he needs information, serious business.

3. If what Rove did was harmless, why did he lie about it?

4. How did Rove know Plame worked at CIA?

If you have other points, list them on this thread.

1. Rove lied to McClellan (or McClellan lied to the WHPC)
About not being involved. We know that - even from his Lawyer.

How likely is it that he told the same lie to the Grand Jury and/or FBI?

2. Exactly what is Rove's security clearance?
and why does it seem like he was being given access to information not necessary for him to know.

When something is top secret, the fewer the people that know the better -right?

is Bush spilling all this info to Rove himself -afterall, they are such good chums? Is that whats going on? Or is it really that Rove has much more power and influence than even the most paranoid of us ever believed?

that simply amazes me.

3. If Rove didn't know he was doing something wrong, then
why did he insist on "double secret background" status?

That wouldn't be necessary for talking about ordinary things or someting everyone already knew about.

Yeah, the whole "double secret" thing just reeks altogether.

Proof that we need not only political reform, but also press reform so our free press ceases to be used as a political hatchet.

The Daily Show had some killer commentary tonight on the "Best Leak Ever".....available here:
