Scathing editorial | Still waiting for truth. Also Tony Auth cartoon
http://www.philly.com/mld/inquirer/12117953.htm

<snip> Either presidential adviser Karl Rove wasn't telling the truth to President Bush about his role in revealing the identity of a CIA officer. Or Bush wasn't telling the truth to the public about Rove's involvement. Neither option is defensible.>

<snip> And Rove's antics would be funny, except for those 83 stars on a wall in the lobby of CIA headquarters. They represent CIA employees who have died in the line of duty, and they serve as a reminder that exposing agents can have consequences far beyond petty political payback. And this alleged payback involves an equally serious issue - whether this nation was misled into war.>

1. The sad thing about the cartoon is that enough people believe the lies
that character assassination works time and again for the right. Also their candidates are so bad that to win they have to make their opponents look worse. Even the caroon will not hurt them.

The American electorate's stupidity along with the media's complicity has let this cabal have it's way. The thing I will remember about these Bush years will be the incredible amount of evil things they have done and the country let them get away with it. It makes the Reagan administration look like a bunch of angels in comparison and that White House had the largest amount of indited members of any administration in history.

2. The American electorate did not elect Bush.
The gradations of belief haven't changed all that much in the last fifty years. The only thing that has changed in the last ten years is the vote counting. And that could be cleaned up very simply:

DEMAND A PAPER BALLOT AND AUDITS FOR ALL ELECTIONS WHERE ELECTRONIC VOTING MACHINES ARE USED TO TALLY THE VOTES

3. But are people really so gullible and naive?
or do they just choose to turn the other cheek? It's unbelievable that the majority of the general public doesn't see the light. We, as Dems are pretty staunch as supporters, but it seems the Repukes will stop at nothing to keep their insane leader in office.

4. Well said. Just e-mailed my RW Scripps Howard screed asking when or if
they will ever editorially address matters of pressing national security interest albeit I already knew the likely answer.
