Gephardt to endorse Kerry?
Just heard this on Fox News (yeah I know I know, sorry :) )

He is supposedly supposed to announce officially in the upcoming week.

Would this add any additional momentum to Kerry's campaign or will it not really make much of a difference? I think getting some additional union support couldn't hurt, but won't make or break a race.

5. In fact he specifically said he wouldn't endorse before MO
this would be a big turnaround.

2. MO has the most delegates available on Feb 3.
It would make a difference. And Kerry could be strong there. It's very working class. Kerry would get organization.

4. It could be a pretty strong thing
for Kerry in MO which goes to the polls on Feb 3rd, has the most delegates open on that date, and is a BIG unknown since Gep dropped out. Noone has really been campaigning or advertising in MO yet and they won't have much time to do so.

6. If Gep endorses Kerry
Missouri would most likely be uncontested. The St. Louis market is expensive only to come in second.

7. "Certainly not before New Hampshire"

It's a few days old but I cannot see an endorsement happening for any of the candidates anytime in the forseeable future.

:hi:

8. A good reminder of how Gephardt and Kerry betrayed us on IWR!
President, House Leadership Agree on Iraq Resolution

President George W. Bush along with bipartisan leaders from the House and Senate announced the Joint Resolution to authorize the use of the United States Armed Forces against Iraq. "The statement of support from the Congress will show to friend and enemy alike the resolve of the United States," President Bush said during the announcement in the Rose Garden, Wednesday, October 2, 2002. 9. Kerry wasn't there. Why do you post stuff you know isn't true?
It's really depressing to have to reply to this sort of thing time after time again.

15. Kerry voted for IWR
Not shown on that particular angle is Evan Bayh, the current Chair of DLC and Joe Lieberman.

16. There is a distinction between Rose Gardeners and Kerry, IMO
I don't expect you to make that distinction, but I'm happy to do it for you. At least Kerry voted for Byrd's amendment, giving a time limit for the authorization.

and that's something I give Lieberman a lot of credit for!

11. Gephardt: Secretary of Labor ?
for awhile, i thought he might make an interesting pick for VP to help the dems add some strength in the midwest ... the idea would be to more or less give up on the South and try for some of the battleground states in the midwest ...

the problem with this, however, could be that Gephardt didn't make much of a showing in Iowa ... he still could be a good choice to balance a ticket but it's not clear how much help he would be ...

nice pick for Secretary of Labor though ...

12. I would say labor secretary
Gives him a chance to fight for workers which is what he enjoys.

18. new sig ?
hi jk ...

hadn't noticed your sig before ... knew you were supporting dk ... did you recently add jk ? was it just because you have the same initials ... not much of a reason to choose a candidate, eh ??

btw, that's my current thinking on the candidates also ... i'm torn between jk and dk ... at this point though, and i know this annoys the dk supporters, i'm leaning towards Kerry because "he's there" and dk is not there ...

19. The thought of Gep as VP never crossed my mind
But now that I think about it, I think he would be a solid contribution to any ticket!

25. Kerry showed in Iowa that he can win in the Midwest.

So what would Gep bring to the ticket that Kerry doesn't have?

13. Honest question here.
How does Kerry's record on Labor issues compare to Gephardt's? That is Gephardt's core group of support and I would think that Dennis Kucinich's positions on Labor were closer to Gephardt's.

14. Kerry has a great labor rating
But like Dean, he doesn't want to get rid of NAFTA/WTO.

22. yea
Kerry is good on labor, but yes its true, on labor Gep and DK are most comparable. Thats why I considered Gep as a backup choice to DK at one time.

17. Who the hell knows?
The only thing you know for sure is that the Dem establishment is terrified of Dean because they might have to get off their duffs and actually deliver on the stuff they've been promising for 30 years.

The way those two tag-teamed Dean in IA, and Gep staying in it right up to the end, I wouldn't be surprised if they're planning a Kerry/Gephardt ticket.

Nothing like taking an electoral disaster and making it 10 times worse.

24. Its 90% overall from the AFL-CIO
Interestingly thats better than Gep's but I have to be honest here, Gep is better than Kerry on labor, but Kerry, hes up there.
