Gephardt to endorse Kerry?

Just heard this on Fox News (yeah I know I know, sorry :) )

He is supposedly supposed to announce officially in the upcoming week.

Would this add any additional momentum to Kerry's campaign or will it not really make much of a difference? I think getting some additional union support couldn't hurt, but won't make or break a race.

It would make a difference. And Kerry could be strong there. It's very working class. Kerry would get organization.

for Kerry in MO which goes to the polls on Feb 3rd, has the most delegates open on that date, and is a BIG unknown since Gep dropped out. Noone has really been campaigning or advertising in MO yet and they won't have much time to do so.

for awhile, i thought he might make an interesting pick for VP to help the dems add some strength in the midwest ... the idea would be to more or less give up on the South and try for some of the battleground states in the midwest ...

the problem with this, however, could be that Gephardt didn't make much of a showing in Iowa ... he still could be a good choice to balance a ticket but it's not clear how much help he would be ...

btw, that's my current thinking on the candidates also ... i'm torn between jk and dk ... at this point though, and i know this annoys the dk supporters, i'm leaning towards Kerry because "he's there" and dk is not there ...

How does Kerry's record on Labor issues compare to Gephardt's? That is Gephardt's core group of support and I would think that Dennis Kucinich's positions on Labor were closer to Gephardt's.

Kerry is good on labor, but yes its true, on labor Gep and DK are most comparable. Thats why I considered Gep as a backup choice to DK at one time.

The only thing you know for sure is that the Dem establishment is terrified of Dean because they might have to get off their duffs and actually deliver on the stuff they've been promising for 30 years.

The way those two tag-teamed Dean in IA, and Gep staying in it right up to the end, I wouldn't be surprised if they're planning a Kerry/Gephardt ticket.

Nothing like taking an electoral disaster and making it 10 times worse.

Interestingly thats better than Gep's but I have to be honest here, Gep is better than Kerry on labor, but Kerry, hes up there.
