Chickenhawk Squawking Whining

Ah, young Nathan Taylor. Remember him? The Chairman of the Young Republican National Convention in Las Vegas? You know the one who said such inspiring things as:

Nathan Taylor further commented "It is no wonder why so-called political leaders who cater to these malcontents no longer control the Presidency, the Congress, most governorships nor state legislatures. They clearly stand for nothing but thwarting those brave men and women who desire only to protect us from our proven enemies."

What a guy. Well, seems old Nathan isn't making any friends on his side of the aisle either. Apparently the convention wasn't a money-maker, and Nathan has been stiffed with the bill. For as much as 25 Grand.

Complaint against college Republican dropped in Reno

RENO, Nev. (AP) - A criminal complaint has been dropped against a state Young Republicans member accused of embezzling registration fees for an upcoming GOP convention.

Joe Brezny, Nevada's national committeeman for Young Republicans, said he asked Reno police to drop the complaint against Nathan Taylor after determining the charges were groundless.

In the complaint he filed with police Feb. 14, Brezny alleged Taylor used registration fees and donations for personal use such as bar tabs and credit card debts.

n a letter to police, Arjun Dhingra, state Young Republicans chair, said about $25,000 received from 200 people around the country was missing.

UNLV student, chair of convention accused of embezzling money

A man currently attending UNLV and designated to chair the upcoming 2005 Young Republican National Convention has been accused of embezzling more than $25,000 in registration fees across the country.

A criminal complaint was filed against Nathan Taylor, 29, Monday Feb. 14 with the Reno Police Department, accusing Taylor of using registration fees and donations given to his corporation, YRNC 2005, for personal use. Such bills included "bar tabs, personal loans and credit card debts."

According to the criminal complaint filed, the bank account statement shows withdrawals from the YRNC 2005 account from Bully's bar at Carson City, Shell Oil, PF Chang's restaurant, Mandalay Bay and twice for $200 in cash within a 30-day period. The complaint also contains an affidavit alleging Taylor asked Kriston Whiteside, president of the UNR College Republicans, to write a check from the YRNC 2005 to cover his birthday party expenses at a bar.

"I believe that if I remain chairman of this convention that there are individuals who believe that they would not be able to have control over the election," Taylor said to the Review-Journal. "They're willing to do anything and whatever it takes. I actually think it's extraordinary to take these steps to attack my name. It's politics of personal destruction."

4. College Republicans are not the same as Young Republicans

As I recall, they started out as the same organization in the 60s/early 70's but split at some point. The College Republicans are the ones with the Response Dynamics fund-raising scandal. The Young Republicans are the ones whose Nevada chair is in trouble. They both share the same Rovian heritage, but they're different groups.
