Was the Plame leak Bush himself?
Edited on Fri Jul-15-05 08:58 AM by fryguy
If the new reports/story is true, then Novak told Rove that Plame worked for the CIA, not the other way around. Now I don't believe that, but even if it were true then there still remains the question of who in the administration originally told Novak - since there has been no dispute that he got it from two people. Who other than Bush could they be trying to protect? If the source was ANYONE else they would surely be offered up as a sacrificial lamb to quell the story, but neither Novak, Rove, or any other repub is giving the name of the still mysterious other high ranking administration source. In my mind that could mean only one thing.....

3. Let's think about this one. It's not so crazy...
After all, Wilson knew GHWB well. GHWB - especially as a former CIA person - would be in a position to know. He might have told GWB.

It's not a stretch.

7. precisely!
who else (except maybe Cheney) could they be smoke screening for? any other gop lackey would have been tossed to the wolves - likely with the promise that when it all blew over they'd get a nice K Street job - so why has Novak or Rove just come out and said "Mr. Smith leaked the name....go talk to him...."?? Why don't the say that? Because the name they would have to say is that of the man leading our country....

8. It's really sad that we have to rationalize the idea that the PRESIDENT...
... could possibly have access to classified information if only because someone in his FAMILY might have known.

4. I don't think that what this (Rove) lawyer told the NYTimes is true
I think it is kinda bogus. . .another attempt to give Rove wiggle room, since the "I didn't know her name and didn't leak her name" defense didn't really work out so well.

5. But would Bush talk to Novak? Or someone else?
I think you are right that it is possible, but Bush doesn't seem to be the type to talk to others freely. Seems like he'd have someone else do it. I can't imagine him breaking wind without Cheney or Rove to say when and fan his farts for him.

9. i could see it
or at least the leaking done at the direct direction of bush...either way, there's no doubt in my mind that the trail leads to the oval office if rove and novak are so intent not to mention the "other" admin official

11. From 911 on, Cheney practically lived at the CIA
I believe he was there 15 times over a period of three or four months. Since no VP had ever visited the CIA before (and presidents only for ceremonial occasions), this is pretty remarkable. Since he was searching for WMD, it is likely he met Plame. It is very possible that she or someone else mentioned Joe Wilson. That's my guess.

13. And, Cheney was the one seeking further information on the
Niger documents. His *office* was the impetus for the trip to Niger.
