The Latest Rove Talking Point Is Ridiculous.
The latest bit of nonsense about Karl Rove is that he was a "consumer" of information and not a "leaker". In essence, the RNC talking points (written and approved by Rove no doubt) are NOW claiming that reporters called Rove and he simply confirmed their queries. It seems to me that this makes no difference in that Rove still aided and abetted the outing of a CIA operative by leaking OR by confirming.

Also, this version of what happened flies directly in the face of Novak's earliest claims about the story. Novak claims that he didn't "ask" for the information about Plame, he was "given" the info and it was being "pushed" by his White House sources.

I imagine the next version of the story will involve Area 51 and the "pod people". I can hear Rush "RX" Limbaugh bellowing that it is obvious that the pod people temporarily inhabited Rove's body and made those statements. He will also let us all know that Scalia and Thomas whipped up some Opus Dei hoodoo and exorcised the demon so everything is all right now and we can go on about our business.

1. Sounds, to me at least, like he is part of a conspiracy
Conspiracy charges clear up all kinds of loose ends.

11. Desperation overdrive. The more they dance this mess around,
the more surreal it becomes. This is the latest postage stamp sized fig leaf for KKKarl to try to hide behind. They just don't get it, that this is a serious crime, not a PR exercise. "Since I first heard about Plame from a reporter, then just repeated what I heard, it's ok!" Tell it to Fitz.

4. Doesn't matter because of his clearance
If he was made privy to classified information, regardless of the source, confirming that information to an outside source is still illegal.

They're spinning like a top, and nothing is sticking.

9. DIngDingDingDIngDing!
:applause:

Ladies and Gentlemen, we have the winning counter-argument to the latest lie: it doesn't matter where Rove got his information. What matters is that he gave it to Cooper, who certainly did not have the clearance to receive it.

6. I'm sick
I sit here brokenhearted. The miserable rat-bastard will get off the hook with the newest line of shit.

He wasn't the source of the information, he was a consumer of it.

Goddamnit, good luck proving he's wrong.

Rove is brilliant, and figured out how to get off the hook. And he probnably will. Besides heartache, all I'm left with are questions.

If rove was really innocent, why didn't he simply step forward with the truth 2 years ago?

By lying, then having scotty and w repeat the lies, rove compromised the credibility of the entire administration. Why aren't scotty and w furious with rove?

OK, trick question, and an easy answer. Because w and scotty knew damn well what was going on. They were part of the stonewalling for the past two years.

And all these miserable scumbags are gonna come out of this smelling like roses.

I'm so sad. These guys have never had to accept responsibility for any of the nasty shit they did. AFrom lying to get us into Iraq all the way to poor Joe Wilson. One of the first to show bush for what he really is. A lying, manipulative bastard.

Are these guys ever going to pay for the bad things they do?

8. It doesn't matter how they spin it
Rove committed high crimes, plain and simple.

No amount of spin will change that.

The prosecuter will see this through.

7. Someone must have put their foot up the media's butt.
They are really staying with Rove's talking points today. If he was a "consumer" why didn't he just say so way back when? These people kill me. They are lacking thought process. They just absorb information given then spew it back. The lack of critical thinking skills by the media and the public is astounding.

10. Irrelevant. . .
the only thing that counts is "did he KNOW she was an undercover agent". If not, he did not violate the law, if so, he probably did.
