I don't care - even if this will result from cynical manipulation |
|
I don't care if Rove survives this and I don't care if Alberto Gonzales joins the Supreme Court - if all this will prevent rabid RWs - like the one from Texas who want to execute judges who sided with Michael Schiavo and who wants to execute physicians who provide abortions. (Perhaps two different people, but you know what I mean).
So if there is another agreement where Democrats will lay off Rove and will approve Gonzales, instead of a worse alternative - I am all for it.
We have to remember the reality that we are the minority in the Senate - for at least 18 more months.

1. That will not be neccessary. |

Remember, Fitzgerald is in control here. This is a judicial branch matter, and, no, I don't think even this administration will invoke presidential pardons in this case.

First of all, dems have no power to affect the special prosecutor. He is independent of the Senate and is not supposed to make "deals". There is no "Rove deal" on the table. There can be no exchange of Rove for Gonzales.
Secondly, to give up Rove hunt in exchange for Gonzales on the SCOTUS is a rotten deal. I have a feeling we can get better than Gonzales without compromising on Rove.

For example, pushing the "another woman" for one of those that were recently confirmed will be bad, too.

3. I don't think Fitzgerald would be a party to such an "agreement". |
|
Rove's fate is not in the hands of Democrats. How the Repubs are tryng to spin the "partisan attack" thing one more time with feelin'!
But this is another diversion. Fitzgerald is the man who has the testimony and the subpoenaed documents. Fitzgerald is not a Democrat. Rove can spin and spin away. He can't spin Fitzgerald.
