Mehlman on MTP " That's my story and I'm sticking to it"
Like the philandering husband from the above quote, the Republican Chairman kept up the lie that KR was not involved in blowing the cover of Plame even after Russert traced Karl's involvement in both the Novak and Cooper leaks. It was breathtaking in its mendacity and convincing to only the most credulous Faux junkies. However this plays out these thugs are squandering their credibility with every appearance. They have been conditioned by their early successes with a compliant MSM and an intimidated Democratic Party that they can get away with whatever lie they put out there for public consumption. I pray that the Party and the Press do not revert to supine.

1. (un)believable
it is beyond belief how anyone can see that Mehlman is blowing smoke, and Mehlman knows they know!

i love how he keeps saying that the Democrats are trying to smear Rove based on pre-judging a case, but in the same breath says 'when the evidence clearly exonerates Rove for being the leak'.

HELLLOOOOOOOOO??????!!!!!!!!!!!!!

4. Gotta give it to Podesta for smacking Timmy down when he was
about to try to use repuke talking points against Wilson. He made me applaud out loud. Timmy was very subdued and sad and said that was a topic for "another show." Yeah right Timmy.

8. Podesta was very good - didn't allow Mehlman to change discussion
Edited on Sun Jul-17-05 10:22 AM by Justice
I liked it when he boiled it to down to simple terms - McCellan said Rove told him he was not involved. Being a source to Novak is being involved.

edit to add - and therefore Rove lied. Cannot be trusted with national security. not serving president, not serving country. If rove had an ounce of character, he would resign.

9. Mehlman faltered big time on Timmy's question,
Kenny was saving, let's not rush to judgment, let prosecutor do his job, have complete faith in this prosecutor.

Timmy said, so if Fitzgerald indicts people, you are saying, you will not challenge the indictments, you will accept them?

Kenny, ahh, ahh, don't want to speculate on that, not my call, just want to say complete faith in Pat Fitzgerald, ahh, ahh.

Timmy, no wait, you said complete faith in Fitzgerald, so are you saying you won't challenge indictments.

Kenny, ahhh, I want my mommy. (seriously, just kept repeating, can't speculate, don't rush to judgment, etc etc).

11. *rotfl*
That was the best part. Mehlman proved us all right when he wouldn't answer that question. He practically said 'I'm not going to promise not to use the only weapon we ever have. If that POS indicts any of our friends, we reserve the right to smear him to death, if necessary'.

In another thread this morning, asking why the right had not yet attacked Fitzgerald, most agreed they were waiting until after the indictments!! Mehlman just confirmed that!! I hope Fitzgerald was watching MTP. I'm sure by now he is well aware of their dirty, filthy, rotten MO of attacking decent patriotic Americans who will not go along with their treasonous behavior.

12. That really was a great moment.
Kenny's masters will dress him down for ad libbing his confidence in the prosecutor while getting away from the " exonerate, vindicate but not implicate" mantra that they wrote for him. He and Scotty ought to be starting to realize the price to be paid for serving this venal crowd. It is to be shown, for all the world to see, to be completely devoid of integrity. It is what Bush/Cheney/Rove demand and it is what weasels like Mehlman and McClellan willingly give.

14. Yup. Expecially enjoyed when he lifted up confidentiality agreement
Rove signed and read the part about how those with security clearance are required to be pro-active about making sure information is non-classified before confirming it around to outside sources.

16. You know something else that's freaky about all this?
Wasn't Russert one of the journalists that was called by someone in the WH? He either testified before the GJ or was interviewed by Fitzgerald, I don't remember which.

So while Mehlman's dodging and spinning, Russert is sitting there KNOWING exactly who in the WH leaked. And Mehlman knows that Russert knows!

It's like they're playing out this little act just for us.

Bizarre.

19. It speaks to the lack of integrity on the part of the MSM
that several of these geniuses knew that Scotty was lying about KR's non involvement. And yet it wasn't until it was made public that these "journalists" showed any skepticism at the many lies that the WH was spewing.I did enjoy Russert acting as if he was a reporter today, but when you think about all the lies he has permitted to be uttered on his program knowing that these people could not be trusted, it makes me sick.
