Evan BAYH on C-Span RTWH: What a freakin LOSER!
Road to White House - C-Span

The coolest old lady stood up and asked (paraphrasing)

Old Lady: "What will you do to protect my vote. In 2000 the Supreme Court gave it away. In 2004 there was fraud in Ohio and Florida."

Bayh: "Oh I don't happen to agree with you. I don't think there was voter fraud. But I am supporting the paper trail legislation

Old Lady: "What good will that do, with a Republican congress who won't vote for it"

Bayh: "Oh, I see what you mean, kind of a catch 22, can't get the legislation passed. But if we have a message..."

Old Lady: "Yes but with the two Diebold brothers controlling all the machines..."

Besides all of this, he has the stupidest haircut I have ever seen

9. Edwards wasn't that bad!
I'd prefer Bayh over Hillary in a nanosecond but they would be my last two choices.

Coincidentally, I remember reading during the '04 election that Edwards & Bayh were close friends and ran together every day at lunch (everyday Edwards was there, that is...see, I'm behind Edwards 100% but I can find faults with him! LOL!).

21. Oh c'mon...
Edwards is easily one of the most charismatic democrats around... Bayh doesn't have the presence or the charm. And, neither is Edwards the DLC type... when was the last time a dlc type was openly campaigning for raising the minimum wage, fighting poverty, voicing strong disagreement for NAFTA/CAFTA, calling the dumb nuclear option deal that let through judges like Brown, owens, etc. what it is: "unacceptable." One can go look at his legislative record and see that he was no middle of the road guy... he has very strong progressive ideas and principles. Bayh on the other hand... is a disappointing loser.

2. Bayh is a hack
If he even comes close to sniffing the Democratic nomination in 2008 we are in BIG trouble.

16. A friend of mine (who has MS) sold her house in the Bay Area, and
up 'n' moved to Belize. She lives in the jungle, near Guatemala. She was totally fed up after 11/3 and she left.

Now, if we just had that 45 ft trawler, we'd be gone too. This country is getting more and more difficult to tolerate. :hide:

4. Bayh is the Democratic version of Dan Quayle
Besides having the worst last name in politics, Bayh is so middle-of-the-road and so milque toast on many issues that he needs to be given the John Breaux Trophy for Boring Republicrats.

Bye Bayh.

11. ha love that !!!! "Bye Bayh" Very clever. Yes, actually he kind of
reminded me of Bush. Not too bright son of a career politician -- too programmed, too careful. Too ignorant.

24. John Breaux doesn't deserve to be put on the level of Evan Bayh
Unlike Bayh, Breaux wasn't a sleazy political hack who was trying to become President. Sure, he was no progressive, but he did a lot of things to help Democrats out in our state. Breaux genuinely believed in compromising and wasn't doing it for political points (believe me, he didn't need them). Bayh believes in doing what is best for his own career and that's all.

7. Democrats who really want change
are in for a big disappointment in 08 unless we "go outside the box" and dig up someone with backbone. Otherwise, we`ll be stuck with yet another ankle-grabbing mini-Republican.

10. You could not be more right !! I hope we take our time too and
not try to declare a winner too soon. I think that an early nominee gives the other side more time to destroy. Let's take it all the way to the convention and make sure the person really, really deserves our nomination and to make sure WE have the right person!

It is only those that worship his past chairmanship of the DLC that are blind to all of Bayh's weaknesses.

14. Bayh doesn't have the guts to speak truth to power.
He knows damn good and well that paper trail legislation is critical because of previous demonstrated voter fraud. "I don't happen to agree with you" are weasel words.

18. I can't say I know much about Bayh
but from what I've seen, he's a polished politician. You could look at a photo of him and see it. You could listen to him on any talk show and hear it. He strikes me as the epitome of political calculation -- looking acceptable, sounding acceptable, not going too far this way or that way, perfecting the smile and the handshake.

That may not be fair on my part because again, I don't know much about him. But if people want to run a "safe, experienced politician," this is the sort of person I think fits the bill.

Edited on Mon Jul-18-05 01:04 AM by Armstead
Someone should explain to him that people like him are the reason Democrats don't have a message.

"Everything is fine. We just think the Democrats can manage the country a little better than the GOP."....That's not a message.

Go to your room Senator, until you figure out why that is the reason Democrats keep losing, despite all odds.
