Is Ken Mehlman Gay???
Edited on Sun Jul-17-05 09:29 PM by liberaliraqvet26
After watching him this morning I had my suspicions, then I found this article. With all the Dean bashing of the last few months it would be nice to out this hypocrite jackass in the MSM. Interesting reading...

Beats thinking about some idiot's personal life, doesn't it?

5. Because of the PUb stance on Gay marriage and gays in general.
They preach against it all the time, so if some "star" in the Party is part of something they are so much against, doesn't it make sense to point that out?

Kinda like Santorum's right hand aide being openly gay. Check what Santorum has said in the past!

10. No, as in self-loathing male homosexual hypocrite...
who is willing to participate in the bashing and relegating to second-class citizenship of his fellow gay Americans to advance an evil Repuke-Neocon-Theofascist agenda. I HOPE he's not, but if he is, he should be publicly exposed and subjected to the scorn and hatred he so richly deserves. And I'm not a vindictive person. Really.

9. I wouldn't be surprised.
But then, I still get e-mails from the RNC that are merely talking points from Mehlman.

I've never, ever liked him. He's a sleazy jerkoff, and he reminds me of a weasel.

18. What Does It matter?
As progressives, it's just not important to us.

It bothers the other side - not us.

Frankly, I don't care if Ken likes to do it with watermelons.

I do care that he's a lying cheating scumbag with offensive moral and political views.

24. It matters because of the hypocrisy.
Rick Santorum wants people to respect the privacy of his gay communications director- while he simultaneously argues that there is no "right to privacy" when it comes to sex, sexual orientation, and reproductive rights- furthermore, he forcefully argues that the state should have the power to arrest people for engaging in consensual, adult gay sex.

So he can't have it both ways. Either his communications director is an American Citizen who should be left alone about his sexuality, or -as Santorum has argued- he's a criminal.

Same with Mehlman. He shills for a party that wants to put gays in prison, and that publicly credited their last election 'victory' to, among other things, running AGAINST gays and supporters of gay rights. So he can't have it both ways, either.

27. The Ends Don't Justify The Means
I'm glad I'm not the only person here who feels violating someone's right to privacy to score a political point. I was not thrilled when Kerry mentioned (the already "out") Cheney daughter to make a point when it was unnecessary.

30. Is it too much to ask that, if someone like Cheney's daughter is already
out, people not act like he was insulting her by mentioning what everyone already knows?

That was the most absurd part of that whole Charade. Lynn Cheney griping about "How dare he call my daughter gay".

Yeah, well, she is. And some people in this country are working to make it so that's not a big deal, but your husband isn't one of them.

And it isn't 'unnecessary' to make any of these points... not as long as gay people are still routinely discriminated against in this country, they can't marry or enjoy the same rights as the rest of us; and part of what makes that discrimination easier is when people think of Gays and Lesbians as "those people" instead of members of their family, their friends, their co-workers.

I couldn't give a flyin' philadelphia fuck if someone is gay, or straight- but when they are an active part of an entity with a blatantly anti-gay agenda like the Bush administration or the Republican Party, fuck yes it becomes pertinent because it crosses the line into hypocrisy.

The minute someone says these are BAD people because they're gay, like Republicans and Religious Right types are wont to do, then I will agree that it's out of line- but I do COMPLETELY think it's legitimate to say that they're hypocrites.
