Given Plame, Etc., Repubs May Feel They MUST Win in 2006
They had a lot at stake in 2004, but faced with possible impeachment, for them, the 2006 elections may be do or die for the foreseeable future.

We must not lose focus on election reform.

1. Another reason we must remember that
2006 is HUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUGE.

Here's what we face.

If the Repukes win in 2006 (ie keep House, Senate, etc) I predict they will not only get another Supreme Court nominee, but bolstered by another win "mandate" they will move to overturn Roe, and most likely move to eliminate the Term Limit on Dumbshitya's pResidency. I could see them doing it in such a way that it would be a "from this President onward, keeping any past Presidents (ie President Clinton) couldn't run

WE MUST WIN IN 2006!

2. and the courts.....
all of our future elections being decided by mr. bush's buddy's gives me shiver-divers. Not to mention when one or more of the crimes committed winds its way to the supreme court. This is so convoluted.

4. I think they will push harder then in 2004
and we have to use Lee Atwater - Newt Gingrich - Karl Rove "below the belt" techniques. No more "Mister Nice Guy." Too much at stake.

The thought of a Bush Third Term -- or a Jeb or Frist Presidency is scary.

I may have to do something extreme--->

9. How right you are!
I'm really tired hearing people (Yes here on DU) say we can't stoop down to their level of dishonest taactics! That's crap! You fight your enemy with BETTER amunition than they are using on you, NOT LESS!

I say we think hard about what what disgusting stories we can spread about our Pub opponents! What insinuations we can spread via push polls? IT doesn't matter if they're true or not! They just have to be believable!!!!

5. One of my fears is that they will now have had lots of
experience plus two years to improve their electronic vote-altering technologies, among other things.

They MUST steal the 2006 election or they're screwed.

Steps to prevent that:

1) Wake the Fuck Up Democrats (yeah, you DNC, DKOS, and other doubters), we were screwed in 2004;
2) Get involved at the local level by examining what happens with elections in your district: who runs them, whose machines are used, who gathers and tabulates the votes;
3) Demand that your Democratic Party witness all of this.
4) Scream like Hell if you're told you can't watch because it's "off site" and proprietary to the company counting etc.
5) Demand that DNC wake up and do something.

8. We gotta take this
We need to be as nasty as we've ever been. We need to be on the ground in all the states getting our message out there. If we win this, it will spell the electoral failure of the GOP and they are going to pull all sorts of crap in order to win.

10. Remember though....
Americans have short attention spans.

Within a matter of days, the Rove story will take the back seat to the Supreme Court nominee.

Then in September, Suddam Hussain's trial rolls around. They have plenty of distractions forthcoming..

15. I wouldn't say so
Because really, there's no way we can gain a majority in the house or the senate. We can make gains, and a good election day for us would scare the republicans into being more moderate, so it's still a good thing, but the odds of actually winning back a majority in either house are pretty out there just because of the senate seats up for grabs this year and the degree to which house districts are gerrymandered,
