Another indication the Bush admin is in deep shit with the CIA leak |

This weekend they had the talking heads out in force warning that "the Democrats are walking into another trap where they are being set up with false information", ie the Rather fiasco.
Why would they say this if it was true? In the past they've let the Dems fall on their faces to make them look bad. I think that they know they're about to go down and they're trying to scare the Dems away from taking action.
All indications are the Bush admin stepped into some serious crap and they're not getting out of it.

4. Oh how desperate are they?? |

The undisputed facts show that, at the very least, both Rove and Libby violated their nondisclosure agreements by talking to reporters about classified information.
The undisputed fact is that a reporter is in jail for refusing to reveal a source, something a special prosecutor would never do without HUGE cause. The undisputed fact is that the judge, appeals judge, and Supreme Court who upheld is request for throwing Miller in jail read several pages of rationale for the action and agreed with it.

5. When Rove and hopefully Libby get indicted, maybe folks will start |
|
being a little more curious about who set that trap for Dan Rather?
I know the investigation into something as minor as falsifying military records is at least as unimportant as finding out who forged the Italian Niger docs, or who sent anthrax to 'liberal' press and Dem politicians, or who made final decisions on the allocation of voting machines in Cuyahoga County, or what code caused machines nationwide to 'default' to Bush or non-votes when voting party-line Dem...
But just maybe someone will ask about who made the memos Rather/Mapes used?
And who knows...maybe someone will remember who it was that first told us all that the exit polls were wrong...?

8. My instinct tells me that the Killian memos are genuine |

They've not been shown to be forgeries, and anyone who calls them such has the burden of proof.
We know that his secretary typed similar memos which have since been purged by then-Governor Junior. (By the way, why isn't THAT a huge-ass story?) We also know that the man wasn't a typist and was fairly cautious. In addition to all that, the time-line is very plausible and the typewriter that would have created these documents is consistent with the kind he would have had access to.
Add all this up, and we have a strong case that he covered his own ass by having his Secretary type official memos that he knew would be in jeopardy by the powers-that-be, and so he covered it again by personally typing additional ones for backup. Considering that they're VERY short and there's at least one formatting typo, this certainly fits with him having done it. The ONLY plausible nit I've heard picked is that some of the jargon was more consistent with Armyspeak than Air Forcespeak.
Regardless, the documents that have been uncovered are photocopies, so authentication is nigh impossible. There IS one more step that can certainly answer some questions: do a forensic analysis of the photocopied "originals" and see if paper, toner and potential stress markings are consistent with the kind of copiers that would have existed in facilities where they would have been found. Since copiers change fairly frequently, this may yield something.
The persistent story that Rove or some other operative created these to sucker CBS into stubbing its toe doesn't sit well with me, and has fueled endless fear and speculation about the sophistication of these primitives. To have done something like that is INCREDIBLY risky, and their first responses were clumsy.
Anyone else with me on this?

7. Yes, they want everyone to not talk about it..... |

except themselves. Then they can come out and attempt to destroy the cridibility of anyone that might have a discouraging word but they don't want anyone else to talk about it?
