3. "...serve at the pleasure of the President" |
|
is a standard line from all administrations. 'Cause literally, they do. Anyone in the administration comes or goes at the will of the President (excepting of course, the confirmation process.)

White House, regardless of whether Republican or Democratic. I only say this because they say it all the time on the "West Wing", which has a Democratic administration.
But, hell -- yeah, I think that B* does think that he's king, or that's what he thinks that he should be.

6. Two problems with your post, opihimoimoi |
|
1. White House staffers and cabinet members serve at the pleasure of the president. He is the head of the executive branch. It has nothing to do how imperious this particular occupant of the White House happens to be.
2. Bush can claim -- although I agree there are some questions about it -- to have won the last election. Officially, he did. And we can't get rid of him anytime we want. Unless we can pin some serious wrongdoing on him and a majority of the House and two-thirds of the Senate agree it's been pinned on him, he'll stay put, unfortunately. (I think there's plenty to pin on him.)

18. I stand corrected on #1 and agree with #2.. |

We need the Ninety Percent Level,,,,,, To achieve better results without changing the system.
We need to upgrade our Focus to Levels where Serious Concerns are seriously addressed and voted on.
A cure is much better than band aids....But,,,, it seems the current
trend is in chaos....Bad Ideas pass during these kinds phases...
Caution.....
This Election has allowed a nincompoop to make decisions affecting 80%
of us Americans. We are now paying for that Bad Vote.
We are a poorer Nation thanks to George..and worse/just as Bad/ The World is Laughing at our asses.
Where is the NINCOMPOOP FILTER????
Come, its around here, help me look.

pretty much incapacitated by refusing to ever call on her for questions? If so, wonder how she's now getting to ask questions again. Interesting!
(If she's the one that I'm thinking of, she really is an impressive journalist, in my opinion.)

11. I remember seeing an interview with her (on 60 Minutes, I think)... |
|
and she basically said that she refused to do what the rest of the White House Press Corps was doing -- basically playing the game that the administration insisted that they play (and which they have been playing until very recently).
She really is a true journalist with real integrity.

20. May Helen live to be at least 110 years old and ... |
|
keep giving the Prez hell. I enjoyed it when she asked a question a long time ago and they banished Helen to the back of the press room. She was missed and someone asked her why she was in the back, she said I asked a real question and they didn't like it. After getting some press herself for being banished at her age, with her clout - they gave her seat back up front.
Helen is a pure gem!

when Rove's name was first circulated as the probable leaker - it was reported bush* asked Rove if he was involved - the white house then said Rove said no, he wasn't involved....
So here's the conundrum - Did Rove Lie when he said he wasn't involved or did the White House lie when they said Rove said he wasn't involved?

I've had the pleasure of meeting her and spending about two hours in her presence. She has a wicked sense of humor - and not just about politics. Intelligence radiates from the woman.
