Congressman who wants to bomb Mecca refuses to apologize
The Denver Post

Washington — U.S. Rep. Tom Tancredo refused Monday to back down from his statement Friday suggesting that the United States might respond to a radical Islamic terrorist attack by bombing Muslim holy sites.

Muslim groups earlier Monday called on Tancredo to apologize and said they want to meet with the Colorado Republican.

“I’m not suggesting we do it. I have nothing to apologize for in that respect,” Tancredo said. “I’m simply saying to have a good discussion on this issue, a thorough discussion on what is perhaps the most serious kind of possible situation we could face as a civilization, that you cannot simply take things off the table because they are uncomfortable to talk about.”

Tancredo made the statement about bombing Muslim Holy sites, including the Saudi Arabian city of Mecca, on a Florida talk-radio show.

6. Link to the story on this worthless cur?
I've always thought of Tancredo as a crank and a joke because of his obsession with immigration. But his latest spectacle, besides being just plain hateful, is also endangering the lives of people around the world. When a U.S. congressman makes speeches about bombing Muslim holy sites, what does he do but confirm that this is a war against Islam and that the U.S. has no respect for other peoples.

Oh, and where is the public outcry over this from The Washington Times, The New York Post, Fox News, that vile Limbaugh? Where are the calls for apologies?

By the way, if you want to call the worthless Tancredo's office, the DC number is (202) 225-7882. :grr:

Tancredo for president? Little-known Colo. Republican hits Iowa
By M.E. SPRENGELMEYER
Scripps Howard News Service
July 15, 2005

DUBUQUE, Iowa - After his first long day stumping across Iowa last week, a weary Tom Tancredo dragged himself up to a hotel room in Cedar Rapids, zipped open the suitcase and started looking for his pajamas.

"This doesn't look like my wife's packing!" he exclaimed. Inside, he found a bag of dirty laundry and other stuff belonging to some poor guy who was making a connecting flight for Hawaii. The congressman had grabbed the wrong bag when their puddle-jumper landed in Moline, Ill.

Uh-oh.

>snip<

Tancredo has visited New Hampshire and now Iowa, testing the waters for a possible presidential run. But the real goal is to turn his pet issue - a hard line on illegal immigration - into something none of the contenders can ignore.

8. This after Bush has insisted that we are not at war with all of Islam
Perhaps this assclown didn't get the memo.

Remember Bush standing in that mosque saying we had to respect our Muslim American brothers and sisters? It was one of his better moments right after 9/11.
