Wingnut Congressman Tom Tancredo says bomb Mecca
Edited on Mon Jul-18-05 06:52 PM by SoCalifer

Rep Tom Tancredo on a radio show a few days ago said maybe we should threaten to take-out holy sites, then actually do it after another attack upon us. The host asks, Mecca? He says yes.

OMG.. How can those on the right not see the lunacy in their leaders? Sometimes I feel like I am in a nazi twilight-zone dream -- I mean nightmare.

3. You want to alienate the entire Muslim world?
Bomb Mecca. Ye cats and little fishes! What would he think if Britain bombed the Vatican because of the IRA?

Sadly, what we see here is irrational hatred of a religion-and the hatred is based on ignorance and fear.

4. He lost all credibility due to hypocrisy regarding illegal immigration
He's obsessed with illegal immigration but hired illegal immigrants to remodel his basement.

Tancredo for president? Little-known Colo. Republican hits Iowa
By M.E. SPRENGELMEYER
Scripps Howard News Service
July 15, 2005

DUBUQUE, Iowa - After his first long day stumping across Iowa last week, a weary Tom Tancredo dragged himself up to a hotel room in Cedar Rapids, zipped open the suitcase and started looking for his pajamas.

"This doesn't look like my wife's packing!" he exclaimed. Inside, he found a bag of dirty laundry and other stuff belonging to some poor guy who was making a connecting flight for Hawaii. The congressman had grabbed the wrong bag when their puddle-jumper landed in Moline, Ill.

Uh-oh.

>snip<

Tancredo has visited New Hampshire and now Iowa, testing the waters for a possible presidential run. But the real goal is to turn his pet issue - a hard line on illegal immigration - into something none of the contenders can ignore.

7. "This doesn't look like my wife's packing!"
Why is his wife packing for him? He can't figure out how to do it himself?

9. He Got a Mental Health Deferrment from the Armed Services
Edited on Mon Jul-18-05 08:56 PM by Totally Committed
during the Vietnam War. Anyone from that era will tell you how difficult mental health deferrments were to get at that time. You had to have a real mental disability. And, he got one:

And it includes the childhood depression treatments that led to Tancredo's mental-health draft deferment during the Vietnam War.

In a restaurant in Cedar Rapids, Tancredo talked about offering to make public service announcements telling people who suffer from depression: "I know what you're experiencing with depression. You can overcome it. You can live your life."

"I can't live my life worrying about that limitation," Tancredo said. "The other way to look at it is to say, 'America, this is who I am. (Here is) what I've had to go through.' "

And, this is the man who is threatening to Nuke Mecca on our behalf? AND he wants to be POTUS. If this wasn't so disturbing, I'd be laughing.

The Republicans must be removed from power, if for no other reason than to keep candidates like this away from our government.

10. Somebody at Ed Schultz's new site had a point
and I promised to post it here. Those who are in Colorado should call and let this man know that he's likely putting our troops in danger with his incredibly stupid comments. Great way to get even moderate Muslims pissed off at Americans. Unless he plans on enlisting and taking some of the heat, I think I'd be careful if I was him, or he could get some people killed with his irresponsible rhetoric.

They thought one paragraph about flushing Korans was a problem. And this ISN'T?

12. I just saw a good comment on this
So if a Christian like Timothy McVeigh attacks another building like in the Oklahoma Bombing, should we attack the Vatican?
