A new frame is all over the news and it ain't good for Bush
Edited on Tue Jul-19-05 05:58 AM by auburngrad82
"Lowered the standards", "moved the goalposts" and "raised the bar" are both being used extensively by the media in regards to Bush's statement about the Rove investigation.

I love it when something that the Republicans are so good at (framing) is turned around and used so successfully against them.

1. ABC Poll indicates that only 25% of Americans trust shrub to tell the
truth about rove___God I love this shit. This arrogant fucker is going down. Now that 75% of all Americans think bush is a LIAR, let the DSM investigation begin. http://abcnews.go.com/Politics/PollVault/story?id=949950 SNIP July 18, 2005 — Just a quarter of Americans think the White House is fully cooperating in the federal investigation of the leak of a CIA operative's identity, a number that's declined sharply since the investigation began. And three-quarters say that if presidential adviser Karl Rove was responsible for leaking classified information, it should cost him his job.

Skepticism about the administration's cooperation has jumped. As the initial investigation began in September 2003, nearly half the public, 47 percent, believed the White House was fully cooperating. That fell to 39 percent a few weeks later, and it's lower still, 25 percent, in this new ABC News poll.

13. Add to the list:
"He changed the rules in the middle of the game." Can't remember who said it yesterday. They added "The American people don't like that."

4. Don't read anything into it other than what the president said
I won't comment on an on-going investigation. Let the prosecutor do his work.

9. raise the bar...

...as to what it takes to get Bush to act re: Rove. Involvement in a leak isn't enough for Bush to act anymore, Rove must be convicted of a crime. So Bush has "raised the bar".

6. "Framing" is easy when you have war profiteering news monopoly
lapdogs licking your toes.

-----------

"I love it when something that the Republicans ARE SO GOOD AT (FRAMING) is turned around and used so successfully against them." --auburngrad82 (emphasis added)

-----------

Karl Rove's vaunted P.R. "genius" is stuff and nonsense. He is just the windbag machine for stolen elections, and for rightwing policies that 60% to 70% of Americans oppose.

How difficult is it to feed "talking points" to brainless, pre-programmed, corporate news hacks and Congressional "pod people"?

14. Why aren't we saying bush* is a Flip Flopper? First he will
fire him if he is a leaker...then he won't! Or
First he said he would fire Rove if he is INVOLVED in the leak ...then he would not fire him unless he is found guilty.
Sounds like a flip flopper to me!
