Why Rove should NOT be fired
I want Rove to stay in the WH, so the stink from this scandals gets all over Bush. If W continues to defend Bush and Fitzgerald hands down indictments including obstruction of justice charges for White House advisers, this will be a more damaging scandal than if the guilty parties have already been fired. Also, Rove's is the kind of job that can be done over the phone. Even if he is technically fired, he will still be able to advise Bush and the GOP on electoral strategy. I want him in jail, where he belongs.

3. I want Chimpy to defend and protect Rove...
right up until they slap the cuffs on him and frog-march him out of the White House. I'm glad * isn't distancing himself from Rove!

4. But, B** is not running again. Unless we impeach, he is gone
J 20, 2009.

It sure would be good if we could tie Rudy and McCain and Frist to Treasongate.

7. he's valuable to the GOP at large
and unless indicted will be very influential in the 2006 and 08 elections. He also is very involved in framing administration policy in ways that suit Bush's personal political needs.

This is different from Delay, whose effectiveness depends on being in a House leadership position. Even if fired, Rove will continue to be powerful. I, however, don't believe Bush will fire him unless he is left with no choice.

5. I kind of agree.
After thinking about this and seeing a lot of posts here at DU, I think it might be a good idea to let KKKarl stay. If he is fired now, Fitz won't have anything left to investigate. If Rove stays, then maybe, just maybe Fitz will start seeing the many things that we know aren't right, and he'll call for a more intense investigation that will lead to bigger and more impeachable facts.

Maybe????

8. firing won't stop the investigation
because the crimes were committed while he was a senior adviser with security clearance. There are also possible perjury, conspiracy, and obstruction of justice charges that are reportedly focused on a wider group of advisers in the WH.

6. Even if they do fire him...
He won't really be gone. No reason an old friend can't give his buddy advice on the side. Fire him publically, so what?

9. I gotta disagree
At a *bare* minimum, the man negligently leaked classified information, and more than likely went far beyond that bare minimum. What you are advocating is leaving him in a position to do so again, and you appear to be advocating this in order to get political benefit out of it.

If we don't want them to play politics with national security, then we can't play politics with national security either.

11. your point is an important one
And there is no question you are right in terms of national security. I wish, however, I could believe that firing Rove would correct the threat this administration has posed to national security.

10. I totally agree. I won't sign the petition to fire him. Keep it hot =
firing means cooling down. It will be a non-event if justice is done.
