Boxer on Saying 5 Billion Taxpapers Dollars loans for Chinese Nuke Plant!
Edited on Tue Jul-19-05 04:16 PM by KoKo01
Grants and loans go to Brit's Westinghouse and will create 5,000 jobs!

She's pointing out how horrible this is that our money is going to give technology to Chinese to build Nuke plants and this money could be used at home to create a million jobs. She says Chinese can steal our intellectual properties and we are giving them our capability to build nuclear plants with our technology. She says money will go to a Chinese General known to be hostile to the US who threatened to use against us.

If if the XM Banks Deal goes through the US Taxpayers will be paying for a British subsidiary to build plants using our technology given to a general who could use weapons against us. She says this DEAL makes no sense. Now Santorum is on the way to shoot down Boxer/Coburn amendment. :grr: Coburn is on arguing about what a boondoogle this would be for the British Government.

This sounds dreadful...who the hell has proposed this? Is this payback for China for buying all our bonds? Or, payback to Tony Blair for supporting Bush.

2. steal our intellectual properties
Edited on Tue Jul-19-05 04:20 PM by paineinthearse
Every airplane wing manufactured by Boeing China....

Every circuit board manufactured by Solectron China...

Every computer manufactured by HP China....

Equals technology copied, propritary rights lost and jobs lost.

....But I forgot, it's so the consumers can have less costly goods to buy at sprawl mart!

edit: forgot to mention stealth submarine drives of US design that Toshiba "lost" to China....

3. Apparently this is an amendment sponsored
by Senator Coburn and Senator Boxer trying to block the loan to China of $5 billion dollars. My wonderful senator, Rick Santorum, just got up and made a speech against the amendment.

Boxer says we already owe China billions of dollars in loans to the US. Why give them money to build weapons to use against us? She just said that this loan makes no sense whatsoever. This would benefit a country who just said they would use nuclear weapons against us.

What's the benefit here, to give technology to the Chinese, who could use it against us. Bad. Bad.

4. Now Diane Feinstein is opposing
Boxer's amendment. Feinstein says the amendment is a free gift to the French and loss of American jobs. Feinstein feels sorry for the Chinese who have to breath the coal-burning air, and wants them to have nuclear energy.

Makes it clear why Feinstein opposes the amendment.

8. Isn't Coburn a real RW Crazie? I think our OKLA Dems have said some
pretty bad things about him. It's good to see some of the Repugs stew in their own bad pot...when they say Iran can't have a nuclear reactor yet we are supposed to give loans to China so they can have them. Hung on their own petard on this one? I guess Santorum didn't get the message...

6. She must have many Asian constituents to support Santorum's 5,000 PA
jobs that this pork would give to him. Santorum really is an idiot...he could barely defend his postion against Coburn his fellow Republican.

Also Mitsubishi would provide the "steel" for the infrastructure of the Nuclear plants and Boxer came back and pointed this out.

11. Senators are not present...but coming in "one by one." Boxer looks nervous
and she's pacing up and down and trying to collar folks and they walk away from her....This is sad...I don't know what's going on but that Senators were not present when the Roll Call was called.

I'm rooting that Boxer get's this vote. Leahy and Murry voted against Boxer... I have to hope our Dem Senators will get up to the plate and vote for Boxer/Coburn Amendment not to give the Chinese loans.

Boxer is still out there as I watch trying to corner folks to vote for her...hoping to get Repug Crossovers who FGS as "fiscal conservatives" how can they live with a bill that pays the Chinese our tax dollars to support LOANS & Guarentees for Chinese/Mitsubishi to get "low cost loans" BELOW current interest rates to BUILD CHINESE NUKE plants!

I'm hopeful Boxer/Coburn will win. This is a TRUE BI-PARTISAN Amendment..and any Dem or Repug who votes for this needs to GO DOWN IN 06 We Can hold it against Santorum...he "Gave away Nuke Secrets to the CHINESE!!!!!" I can see the commercial against Santorum right now. :-)'s

21. How could they have voted to allow Santorum 5,000 jobs in Pa..that will
cost the rest of America so much in tax dollars. Why is Santorum so important to Diane Fienstein, Harry Reid or Hillary or Leahy?

What the HELL is going on here. Barbara Boxer stood tall and worked the Senate floor trying to get votes...and watching the vote what's awful is that some Dems changed their vote...but not due to her influence its like they didn't want their "home constituents" to know that they "flip/flopped."

It was the weirdest vote I've ever seen and ALL TO GIVE SANTORUM 5,000 jobs for British Owned Westing House and Mitsubishi?

What in the world was KERRY or DODD THINKING that they would vote FOR SANTORUM? Help me here?

Unfortunately, I do not have the answer. This stays a mystery for me. Is this contract so important for the US. Somebody has to tell us.

(to the best of my understanding, Hill changed her vote to NO at some point).

25. Thanks for the quick link to final vote! Now when DU'ers ask about Kerry,
Hillary, Leahy and Dodd..plus others...I have a bookmark where I cant instantly ask them...Why the Hell would Rick Santorum's 5,000 jobs for Westinghouse/British and Mitsubishi/Japanese be so IMPORTANT that we give CHINA LOANS to build NUCLEAR PLANTS that we NEVER would have ALLOWED Iraq or IRAN to have!

Am I missing some kind of HYPOCRACY GOING ON? Do I live under a porch?
Have I been a clueless idiot all my life that I should be ANGRY that KERRY, REID, DODD, Hillary and LEAHY...plus many others we Dems hold "dear in our hearts" voted for Santorum's 5,000 PA jobs by giving us an "interest rate loss loan" to CHINA? Since WHEN is Santorum someone to "cower Dems in a Bunker?" I thought that was DeLay's job. AND...HARRY REID? THE BOXER? the one that we Dems are pinning our hopes on winning in 06! Give me some help here....this is devastating that BARBARA BOXER LOST THIS VOTE TO SANTORUM!!!!!!

If we Lost THIS...What the HELL do we ever hope to win???? :scared:

27. Everybody has bad votes that you can point to.
But you are right to be angry at this one. I cannot explain it. If they had a good reason to vote for it, I really would like to understand it.

One last thing: though Hill is not one of my favorite,Leahy and her voted FOR the amendment, not against.

This is probably what makes me totally mad. Hill and Bayh knew enough to vote for it, but Kerry, Lautenberg, Murray, Reid, and Corzine did not? I really need an explanation.

30. That's true...
But, in watching and posting, Hillary and others "vote switched." So some Senators voted No then switched to Yes...as they watched how the vote went :eyes: so in typing my replies I had to record the "switch votes." I might have gotten a couple confused. I thought I caught it with the important ones like Hillary and Kerry.

But, should either one of them have "switched votes." What the hell does that mean? And Boxer was working the floor so hard...I saw her arms waving and her "grabbing" Senators on the floor during the vote. She worked her heart out on this one. She should have had this "in the bag" if our Dems had stayed together.

Maybe Boxer is as shocked as some of us are.... Given the Chimp and Congress/Senate's low approval rating a clueless jerk pork barrel hypocrit like SANTORUM can WIN A VOTE against Barbara Boxer?

Especially since Santorum is having his own "hypocracy problems" given that MR. ANTI GAY has a GAY so PROMINENT in his own OFFICE? :puke:

I cant say I am surprised when it comes to Pryor, Nelson, or some other ones, but I was stunned by the names I listed. I still do not see the rational of their votes. They know better.

^^^^The saddest part about that? I'm not even an American. I'm British

The reason I follow US politics so much is because Blair is and, let's face it, has always been, a total toady to US policy. It's just that under Clinton, US policy wasn't totally batshit insane.

Deep Throat said "follow the money". In this case, I'm following the power.
