Expect a thumb in the eye from Bush |
|
Expect Chimp to nominate the most contentious, extreme, designed to provoke a fight Supreme Court pick you can imagine. This is what Bush lives for. He has absolutely no notion of consensus building, it is not in his DNA. This is what he lives for, to spoil for a fight.
The question I have is, when will moderate Republicans start to wake up and realize that they have lost their party and it ain't coming back anytime soon.

1. He also has got to get the attn off of Rover... |
|
...ASAP and that's yet another reason bu$hit will pick the absolute worse zealot he can find - it will cause enough of a ruckus to bury Plamegate for good.
He and Rover are experts at manipulating the media and the oh-so-pliable and easily distracted public like that. Count on it.

4. I agree -- he wants controversy right now. |
|
The rightwing cabal thrives on division, fights, hatred, etc... They want a controversial fight to "rally the base" and distract the public while they continue to steal, maim, kill, and LIE.

6. I agree...I think he will nominate an extreme RW hack |
|
to appease his base. Only after the Dems filibuster, if successful, will he nominate a normal conservative.

9. They'll Force a Flaming Fundie Through With the Nuclear Option |
|
and meanwhile start leaning harder on the media CEO's to stop talkikng about Plame, the DSM, or Rove.
Then when Roe gets overturned, the media buzz will be all about the invincible Fundies and how the Repubs are getting their "momentum" back for 2006.
Karl's minions already have the stories in the can.

the Nuclear Option has less of a chance now than it did when Frist first threatened. If they invoke the Nuclear Option and it falls flat...they're done.

16. That's Why the 2nd Round of Base Closures Was Just Announced |
|
Edited on Tue Jul-19-05 08:59 PM by AndyTiedye
Time to lean on those Senators some more. They'll cave to save their bases, they always do. Bush** has, in fact, nominated Roberts, a hard right-winger and a sure vote to overturn Roe v. Wade. http://www.sfgate.com/cgi-bin/article.cgi?f=/n/a/2005/07/19/national/w103753D73.DTLhttp://www.democraticunderground.com/discuss/duboard.php?az=view_all&address=102x1638484

I don't know that he would have the power to force that through the Senate.
Too many were burned by that Schiavo crap. I doubt he can hold the fiscal conservatives together to push through a fundy.
