Kerry fires up N.H. supporters |
|
Democratic front-runner John Kerry spoke to one of his largest audiences yet Sunday, exhorting the raucous crowd to support him in the nation's first primary Tuesday. "I am here to mark the beginning of the end of the Bush presidency," Kerry said to thunderous applause.
Close to 3,000 people crammed into the gymnasium at Nashua High School to hear the senator from the next-door state of Massachusetts. He hammered Bush on what he termed an economic policy based on corporate perks and criticized the president's failure to enlist the efforts of other countries in Gulf War II.

Acosta, who lives in Newton, Mass., said she has been following the Kerry campaign for weeks. She said she likes the fact he's a military veteran. And the notion of free preschool — which Kerry's wife, Teresa, has touted on the trail — is appealing to her. "He makes me feel like he's one of us," Acosta said.

Nashua resident Betty Darnell said she has been "back and forth between Dean and Kerry, but I think I'll be voting for Kerry." Darnell said both take strong stances against Bush and the administration's policies but that Kerry has a better chance of taking the nation's highest office away from Bush.
"I hope to God someone can," she said. http://news.mysanantonio.com/story.cfm?xla=saen&xlb=180&xlc=1119124{/blockquote]
