Clinton: Bush's economic plans threaten U.S. growth
Associated Press

SUNRISE, Fla. - The United States will not continue its leadership in the world unless it grows economically, former President Clinton said Sunday, adding that President Bush's economic policies threaten expansion.

Pointing to the balanced budget he achieved during his administration, Clinton said it helped achieve "the longest economic expansion in history."

He said Bush's tax cuts are causing huge deficits and threatening the retirement benefits of average Americans. He warned the deficits would have to be repaid by today's children.

"They are giving me $87,000 in cut taxes from some middle-class guy's Social Security benefits and borrowed money," Clinton told a highly partisan crowd of about 2,000 who paid up to $250 to hear the former president. "This is crazy."

Funny how Dean speaks up on this issue and Kerry calls him "dangerous". I guess speaking the truth is dangerous Mr. Kerry.

3. So, what's Clinton -- and other Dems -- doing w/ their tax cuts?
Acknowledging that the Bush tax cuts for the rich are unfair and economically dangerous, what's Clinton doing with *his* tax cut cash? For that matter, what're the rest of the wealthy Democratic politicians doing with their tax cuts?

I haven't heard too many stories of rich Dems rejecting their tax cut cash, or donating it all to charity.

4. the point is ...this country is not in good financial shape...and it takes
a leader to come out and say what needs to be done.

Clinton (out of office) can say this safely. Dean has been saying it. We don't need more BS...this is how we got in this mess.

6. seems to be a trend. Dean was right on the deficit issue/taxes and
he was right on Iraq war. Two totally different issues that he can "analyze" and come up with policy statements.

This guy says what he thinks...and has taken the heat for enthusiasm. How many families wish they had Dean as president seeing that WMDS were "falsified"...we see the trend w/bush. And Dean calls him out.

8. Dean is still wrong
If he thinks he can do ANYTHING without cutting the wasteful Pentagon budget, he's about as right as he was about Saddam having WMD's.

9. so you think deficits and the pace we are going at is ok? I think
all candidates have come out against the tax cuts (different levels)....so take a look at where they stand.
