President Bush's Rating on Handling of Iraq Continues to Erode
Thursday July 21, 7:16 pm ET

Percentage of U.S. adults expressing negative views on Iraq reaches lowest levels on most measures

ROCHESTER, N.Y., July 21 /PRNewswire/ -- According to the latest Harris Poll, the rating of President Bush's handling of Iraq continues to decline. Almost two-thirds (64%) of U.S. adults now rate the president negatively. On almost all measures in this survey, the number of adults expressing negative views on Iraq has increased.
These are the results of a new Harris Poll of 2,339 U.S. adults surveyed online by Harris Interactive® between July 12 and 18, 2005.

Recently, there has been speculation that perhaps the U.S. public has not been paying attention to the situation in Iraq. This latest survey suggests otherwise. More than eight in 10 (85%) U.S. adults say that they are paying at least a fair amount of attention to the situation in Iraq (29% say they pay a "great deal" of attention and 56% say they pay a "fair amount"). Fully more than a third (36%) thinks Iraq is moving in the wrong direction now, and a similar 37 percent thinks things are moving in the right direction-a less sanguine perspective than two months earlier. In May, though a similar percentage thought that things were moving in the right direction (39%), a much smaller percentage (29%) thought things were moving in the wrong direction. In these latest results, a significant number (28%) still say they are not sure (31% in May).

3. Ask him if he gives a flying fuck
When you think about it, it doesn't matter much, now that he's in office.

By the 2006 midterms, he'll start pulling a few troops out of Iraq and declare victory to assure that Murkins put repukes back in Congress....oh, and don't forget....they protect us against GAY MARRIAGE

4. So all the old tricks aren't working as well as they used to?
I'll be damned. I guess Lincoln really WAS right: you can't fool all of the people all of the time.

5. Isn't there a certain approval level - I think it's 33%
where impeachment becomes a strong possibility?

If he's got only 36% approval and 64% disapproval, let's keep our fingers crossed!!!!

9. He will never be impeached as long as the GOP picks party over country
And as we've all noticed, not one Republican has had the courage to stand up and say - THIS IS WRONG AND IT HAS TO STOP. None have commented on Rovegate except to repeat the party line. Even McCain tonight on Hardball defended Rove and spat out lies about things Joe Wilson did not say (Matthews corrected him). As long as the party means more to them then the country, we'll never get enough votes until the 06 election possibly, to start impeachment because they will never let it get to the floor.

11. I've been guessing his approval's in mid-30's for some time now.
Finally Reality begins to catch up with Shrub's "political capital."

8. My two favorite stats of all time:
58% of Americans disapproved of the Iraq war BEFORE the invasion--that is, before all the lies came out. I'll never forget it. I was following opinion closely. About half of that 58% opposed it outright; about half said they would only approve a UN action (not unilateral action). Feb. '03.

And

63% of Americans disapprove of torture UNDER ANY CIRCUMSTANCES. May '04. That's the America I know and love--a people who are not easily scared, and who stick to their principles and ethics and lawfulness, despite all the Bush Cartel fearmongering.

This is the country I believe in. This is the country I would die for. This the country that I know--even apart from the mountain of election fraud evidence--did not vote to keep these mass murderers, liars, and thieves in power.
