The new democratic congressional leadership |
|
Edited on Fri Jul-22-05 03:59 PM by Check12
is emerging as a result of bushco corruption. Our current democratic leaders with the possible exception of Reid are inadequate. Take for example the Karen Hughes confirmation. The democrats are missing a crucial opportunity to question her under oath!
Biden Sarbanes Dodd Kerry Feingold Boxer Nelson Obama
These people are our Representatives, where are they?
Now, I think our new leaders are the ones that are actively fighting these criminals in office.
Conyers Slaughter Dorgan
These are the people who have my respect and support. These are the people who have demonstrated leadership to me.
I have not seen much leadership from the DLC, so they better change their tune and start speaking out!

You have Boxer on both the "bad" and the "good" lists, recommend you edit. I say keep her on "good," she tore into Rice at her confirmation hearing.

2. Sorry, Boxer was not in the hearings. She did not do anything |

concerning either DSM (correction: she signed the letter for the intelligence hearing), or Rove.
I like her, but please, do not tell us she was active in all that.
Kerry was 10 times more active in all that, even if he was not in the hearings that were conveniently located on a Friday (probably the reason why Boxer and Feingold were not there either).

She just was not part of all that.
I think you are too severe for Feingold, Boxer, and Kerry, but it is true that Conyers, Slaughter, Dorgan (and Waxman, that you did not list) are outstanding (nothing to do with being DLC or not, though), Biden is not DLC and Dorgan is).
In passing, the Senate in his entirety was basically absent of these hearings (Dorgan was there because he had too and so was Schumer, but I did not see ANY other Senators - I think this had to do with location the hearings on a Friday, where they generally go to their states).

No vote in any of the last few Confirmation hearings off that list.
and also is it really fair to compare Senators and Congressmen?
there's a different set of "rules" for each.

7. The criticism concerning the hearings is not fair |
|
Lugar said that he had placed the hearing on a friday morning so that they would go fast (understand that people would be busy in their districts and would not be able to ask questions).
This said, I have a great admiration for Dorgan. He is doing a great job asking real questions and is not recognized enough for that.

I like Nancy Pelosi and McKinney et. al. Have no problem diss'ing those on your top list. Those folks are wimp corporatists.
