My LTTE was published today! Read all about it! |
|
Just before lunch a known freeper in our company walked by and asked my "Was that you in the paper this morning?" and before I could ask how he knew I was streaking through my house with just the classified wrapped round me hunting down a towel and some underwear he added "the letter to the editor?"
I smiled so sweetly and said, "Why yes it was!" and watched him huff away, then ran to the local paper website and found my gem:
Kim Short (letter July 19) blames President Clinton for the latest Bush scandal. As I recall, President Bush vowed to bring honesty and integrity back to the White House.
Karl Rove and Lewis Libby, high-ranking administration officials, have been accused of a crime far more nefarious than President Clinton's redefinition of sex: They leaked classified information pertaining to the national security of our country to send a message to a federal employee who provided facts disputing the administration's claim of Iraq's weapons of mass destruction.
They should at least be suspended until the investigation is completed. Do not blame the victim, focus on the crime.
A president with integrity would handle this offense plainly and swiftly by firing these individuals for putting our country at risk in a time of war. Don't allow them to excuse themselves because they didn't use Valerie Plame's name, obtained their information from a public source, didn't leak important information or, the worst excuse, they "didn't know it was classified."
Federal employees deserve better than to be political footballs to be tossed about whenever the Bush administration wants to play games with national security.
I work at a pretty conservative company so discussing politics is out of the question--the LTTE and this website is one of my few releases.

It is short and to the point.
I am curious about one thing. How did Short blame Clinton for the latest Bush scandal? I know Clinton's penis is all powerful but it is certainly not powerful enough to out a CIA agent.

This is the letter that inspired my letter back (from Kim Short):
None us should expect Karl Rove to resign or get fired. The day of our politicians doing the right thing has gone away, along with honor and integrity, and been replaced by the need for power.
In 1974, President Nixon was caught covering up for his people and he did the right thing and resigned; 1995 gave us Oregon Sen. Bob Packwood and the sexual harassment accusation and he stepped down.
However, the 1990s also gave us Bill Clinton, who along with those who protected him brought us to this point of selective justice and lowered our expectations of what used to be our best and brightest.
If those who are calling for Karl Rove's resignation are disappointed in how things are going, they only have themselves to blame. President Clinton should have been made to step down and prosecuted for perjury. They should re-examine Ted Kennedy as being their spokesman on ethics. Both President Clinton and Sen. Kennedy have more evidence proving they have committed a crime than Mr. Rove, but until we return to a policy of seeking justice instead of power we should expect more of the same.

8. Some press reports I've heard |
|
IS that it is okay for Rove to talk about plame because a report told him that she was CIA. Rove's logic is that it wasn't a secret if the press already knew.
