Kerry Seeks Release of Roberts' Documents
Kerry Seeks Release of Roberts' Documents
By JESSE J. HOLLAND, Associated Press Writer

Friday, July 22, 2005

(07-22) 18:33 PDT WASHINGTON, (AP) --

Democratic Sen. John Kerry urged the White House on Friday to release "in their entirety" all documents and memos from Supreme Court nominee John Roberts' tenure in two Republican administrations.

"We cannot do our duty if either Judge Roberts or the Bush administration hides elements of his professional record," said the Massachusetts senator who was his party's presidential candidate last year.

Opening what is expected to be a broader attempt by Democrats to pry loose documents, Kerry issued his statement as Roberts made the latest in a series of courtesy calls on senators in advance of confirmation hearings.

Democratic officials also said Friday they want access to all material regarding Roberts at the Ronald Reagan Presidential Library in California. Roberts served in the White House counsel's office from 1982-1986. He was principal deputy solicitor general in the administration of President George H.W. Bush.

4. Kerry should keep on interjecting on our behalf.
I agree with him. We need a lot more information on Roberts in order to actually come to an intelligent decision. It is only right that the administration and Roberts himself come forth with what is requested. Lets face it, we are going to have to deal with a Bush appointment like it or not. Lets make sure we know what we are getting.

21. He said there was no question that Roberts is qualified. I think that
it is ridiculous to say that anyone who has just been on the bench for two years is qualified to sit on SCOTUS but that is just MHO. He does indicate he is undecided and at least that is good.

You still didn't answer my question. Like your candidate could do so much better than what Kerry is doing right now.

18. Give me a break with the your own candidate thing
Kerry's the headliner and he brings nothing to the table. He should back off and find a reasonable candidate to support and stop wishing and hoping for his own gradeur. He could be much more effective by supporting a winner instead of supporting his own demise.

19. He's doing his job
You don't like it, too bad. The only selfishness in this thread is you, refusing to admit that Kerry is one of the few Dems speaking out against Roberts, in your zeal to hate him. Pathetic, really.

23. *Lover's Haiku*
kerry's giant rod
evokes envy in "small" men
makes them talk such shit

purple helmet sheen
illuminates this hot thread
blinds the whiner's eyes

kerry's greatest strength
giant liberal manhood
naysayers suck it
