For the WTF file: Rightwinger likens Valerie Wilson to Linda Tripp?!? |
|
This is what I heard on my clockradio this morning. (WBAL - terrible station but it comes in loud enough to wake me up.)
I don't know who the host was, or who he was interviewing, but he pretended to be making a grand point. In the Clinton administration (uh oh) Kenneth Bacon ordered the release of information about Linda Tripp and nobody called for his resignation. Ergo, Democrats and the media are hypocritical.
:wtf:  :wtf:  :wtf:

1. They're all in denial. |
|
The two situations are in no way analogous. Tripp was a low-level functionary who was acting out a personal vendetta against the Clintons. Nothing about her job was secret or classified. This qualifies as maybe the dumbest incarnation of the "Clinton did it first" excuse on record so far.

2. I know -- and it looks like this may be the weekend's talking point |
|
I just did a quick search to see if this was merely that particular radio host's personal delusion or part of the new script. It's been out there this past week from a few different sources, so I think it's probably in the latest blast-fax of "talking points."
Talk about desperation!! These people have NOTHING!!

3. Maybe that's a good thing. It's so ridiculous it's very easily shot down. |
|
The administration is in it now to take care of itself.
They've given no thought whatsoever to 2006. Any congress critter who repeats this one ought to get nailed to a wall.

4. more partisan politics |
|
I think they're doing this to keep people focused on partisanship instead of what's right for the country. Which, btw, is very small thinking in my view.
More and more people are comparing this to Watergate, another Republican scandal. They would rather have it focused on a Democrat scandal. I was talking to a Republican the other day and he made a comment to me that Clinton, by getting caught in a sex scandal was the worst thing in the world. And to me, it wasn't even close to the worst thing! Yes, it was embarassing for Clinton but it really wasn't a big deal!
It's just another example of partisanship and to focus on partisanship vs. what's good for the country is really an example of small thinking and small minds............

Did I get your attention? Gee, right up until the "Shock and Awe" multimedia extravaganza that the Pentagon put on for right wingers amusement, these phonies would piss their pants every time someone mentioned WMDs. Now, they could give a shit.

That's just one of the glaring differences.
They are so intellectually dishonest that it boggles the mind.

8. Lacking a moral compass |
|
What Clinton did wasn't admirable, to put it mildly.
But what these guys do maybe on a daily basis is many times worse.
Lying, deceiving, manipulating with regard only for their own gain and power.
But they think they can proclaim themselves as people of faith who pray and or talk to God on the one hand, and then go start wars that lead to thousands of deaths on the other.
They attempt to claim a moral high ground based on a professed belief and lies.
They're the worst.
They claim an electoral mandate. After another stolen election.
But even their supposed victory was by a very close margin.
Reality, by their own confession, is of little concern to them.
So be it.
It is all coming back to bite them, finally.

And what a lot of these guys also do that isn't admirable is exactly what Clinton was doing, but Clinton was "exposed" and we, the public, exposed to it ad nauseum. They are no more moral, in public life or private, than Clinton or anyone else, which makes their actions and words even more reprehensible. God is probably not amused. They rely on the American people to be too preoccupied to research the truth. And, sadly, they are correct.

What was Tripp's job? Who "outed" her? When is the term outed not applicable? For instance, can I "out" the woman who washes my dog? The very term out is in the process of being watered down. Perhaps we need to keep the tag "national security breach" attached to the word "out". We must maintain the reality that the WH outing of Plame is in a league of its own. It is part of the Rove-Novak Affair.

10. Ultimately, the RW spin doesn't matter. |
|
Edited on Sat Jul-23-05 09:40 AM by smoogatz
That's why Rove's little act of treason has got Bushco's drawers so thoroughly in a knot. They've always managed to lie and intimidate their way out of even the tightest corners--the fact that they got away with failing to prevent 9/11 was a stunning victory of bullshit over reason; ditto Iraq's WMD, ditto Abu Ghraib, etc., etc. But in this case all the spin in the world isn't going to alter Fitzgerald's findings one iota. It's up to him and the grand jury to determine the facts of the case--not the corporate media whores.
Still, it's kind of fun to watch Bushco spinning so frantically. They must get dizzy and fall down a lot.

and the chief mechanic, Rove, had an industrial and it bedridden because of the breakdown.
Gotta love the irony.
