5. I would support Barbara.
But, sadly, neither one would win in a general election, particularly since we'll still be at war (some war - Iraq, Iran, Syria, North Korea...).

6. Nope, gotta go with Hillary.
I love Barbara, and the way she fights for what she believes in, but I can't see her as our President.

I keep thinking back to the long ago days when other countries had women leaders. Thatcher, Gandi, and the like. I thought for years about what woman I had ever seen who would be able to be POTUS.

Although lots of you are going to call me insane, the first woman I ever watched, and heard speak, that I actually said, she could do it, was HIllary.

7. Barbara Boxer, unless she declares Videogame Programmers a public enemy
I'm sorry, but that whole videogame nonsense has just poisoned Hillary for me.

I want Rockstar Games to write Grand Theft Auto: Capital City and include a Hillary-like character in it. And the character should perform oral sex if you download a patch from the internet(s).

15. We need Hillary to stay where she is too
Hillary is all but a shoo-in for reelection in 2006 to the U.S. Senate, and that's where she should stay.

Hillary Clinton has a long, prosperous Senate career ahead of her. :)

32. They might try....
Edited on Sun Jul-24-05 09:31 PM by election_2004
But some Democrats (Clark, Warner, Lincoln, Bayh) would be too squeaky-clean for the media to successfully tarnish them. The Ann Coulters of the world might try to manufacture something, but if it's based on outright lies then it will backfire miserably.

On the other hand, Hillary's past is already so controversial that it will be like throwing pre-packaged salted meat to a bunch of cannibals. Giving the White House to Hillary is just a disaster waiting to happen. The floodgates of sensationalism will be guaranteed to cascade open if Democrats try to shove the Clintons back into the White House.

18. Hard choice. Boxer's politics are generally closer to mine...
-- her stand-up position on the Ohio election was especially courageous -- but I am closer to Hillary on the war, though absolutely opposed to Hillary's obvious desire to limit First Amendment protections. And I am in opposition to both women's zealous efforts to impose the forcible disarmament of the American public.

30. It won't matter who it is, if we have an election tabulated by Diebold and
ES&S with secret, proprietary software. Jeb will win.

Or maybe not. Our Corporate Rulers may have decided to let the Democrats try to clean up the colossal mess that the Bush Cartel has created, and, for instance, build a surplus back up, so they can loot it in 2012.

We will not get the President we want or need. We will get the one that is picked for us, who will best consolidate the enormous gains for Global Corporations and the rich that have been pushed through by the Bush Cartel despite huge majority opposition to every major Bush policy, foreign and domestic, way up in the 60% to 70% range.

We will get a President who will keep the U.S. military in the Middle East forever more--the one who can keep billions and billions of our dollars funneling to the war profiteers, who can improve cannon fodder recruitment, and is just a little more adept and competent than the Bush thugs (who are getting themselves tossed out).

We will get a President (like Hillary) who is more beholden to global pirates than to the American people, and a President (like Hillary) who, a) panders to the right on items like video games, and b) wants the corporate media to achieve a monopoly on violent imagery, games and stories, so that it can be used for jingoistic and propagandistic purposes (pushing global corporate product and political brainwashing), rather than the anarchic purpose of entertainment and release of tension caused by the contradictions and horrors of corporate-controlled life.

That's what we will get, if we don't throw Diebold and ES&S out of the election business, and return to paper ballots and hand counts, or, at least, in the meantime, achieve as much transparency and verifiability as we can, with paper ballot backups of electronic voting systems, strict automatic recount audits and strict security, and NO SECRET, PROPRIETARY programming.

If you want a President who isn't chosen FOR you by rightwing electronic voting companies, join your local election reform group--or form your own--and get busy! Ordinary people still have some influence at the state/local level, where the power over election systems still resides.

And spread the word!

------------------------

Barbara Boxer for president. Howard Dean for vice president. Hillary for dog-catcher.

(Sorry, that's my opinion of Hillary. She and Bill can take NAFTA and GATT and the WTO and the World Bank, and go live in Mexico City, the most overcrowded, polluted city on earth, as a direct result of their sell-out to the Global Corporate Rulers--or maybe Ohio, or Kansas, or Michigan, vast wastelands of lost manufacturing jobs and lost family farms--or maybe Saipan where indentured slave girls sew Gap jeans, and are not allowed to go the bathroom, and are fired if they get pregnant, and are paid pittance wages for endless hours of repetitive, soul-killing work. I'm DONE with Corporate Democrats. No more! Fini!)

If we don't support those who have the guts to support the truth, then why should anyone do it?

Falling into the trap of voting for people who consistently let our country down will not make us winners, it will only insure that those tasked with representing us, have no reason to do so.

The morning paper carried an article today: Green registration is up 27% in Maine. Now why do the Democrats think that is happening?

We need more Boxers, people who do their job.
