Remember that it's not the "Patriot Act" - It's the P.A.T.R.I.O.T. Act. |
|
The MSM doesn't seem to be aware that this is an ACRONYM. The words the letters stand for are: "Provide Appropriate Tools Required to Intercept and Obstruct Terrorism."
It shouldn't be called "The Patriot Act" in the print media as it often appears. It's supposed to be the PATRIOT Act.
I'm sure the bill's sponsors labored long and hard to come up with words that spelled patriot for a bill laying the groundwork for a police state. Yet another con job perpetrated on the American people.
At the very least, WE need to avoid getting sucked into their propaganda.

My favourite bit of the Penn and Teller Bullshit episode about the PATRIOT act:
"To deter and punish terrorist acts in the United States and around the world, to enhance law enforcement investigatory tools, and for other purposes."
Penn: "Other purposes? Even I know you don't accept that kind of loose language in a fucking gym membership!"

Funny but scary because it's true. "Other purposes" is an ominous, chilling, black hole of a phrase.
