WFT? Hillary is going to SUPPORT Roberts?
Sure enough, I got this from a friend: I checked and it is on the Dung Report

"Senator Hillary Clinton has confided to associates that she intends to vote FOR Bush Supreme Court nominee John Roberts, the DRUDGE REPORT has learned.

Unless some unforeseen development occurs around Roberts, Clinton will throw her support behind confirmation, says a top source."

Has anyone else heard anything about this?

This is just WRONG on so many levels!!! If she wants MY support, she will fight to keep the SCOTUS from being packed to the RIGHT!!!

12. DRUDGE REPORT IS WHAT IS HAPPENING
Are you a support of the RNC to consider that as a valid source when it comes to Hillary.

And you know, she is also a lesbian, and Bill raped her.

I am getting mad at all of the ground our leaders are just GIVING UP WITHOUT A FIGHT!!!

I hope Dung is wrong, I really do, but lately I've seen things I would never have guessed would happen in our party.

17. Reread what Dean said
not what AP said.

We have to learn to stop attacking people on unreliable sources. They write these things to make us lose confidence in the Dems and each time we fall for it, they win.

10. I don't hate Hillary
It's just that I am getting so tired of hearing everyone pandering to the right!

Howard Dean says we need to welcome the anti-choice crowd into our party!

Where did all of this come from?

I thought we were supposed to be DEMOCRATS????

She's doing a great job as the Senator of NY. I hope she remains my Senator, and I'd enthusiastically support her. As NY goes, the nation does not. She's hasn't got an ice-cube's chance in hell of winning the general Presidential election in 2008, and if she gets the nominations, you can rest assured that we will not pick up a single red state, we could lose another blue one, and we will have Jeb as president.

by fighting battles that you cannot win.

There is no defeating the Roberts nomination, and Hil knows it.

19. I guess that's a good reason why we have so many Hillary polls for 2008
in this discussion forum
She's New York's senator, We here, in California have our Feinstien, better than a republican but not that far away politically from a moderate republican.

who attacks her based on a Drudge report.

There may be some reasons to disagree with her, but please, let's say that Drudge cannot be believed.

25. Don't forget that most Dems are still scared of being labeled.
They don't want to be called TOO liberal or TOO right wing. They want everybody to like them come '08. It's like being two-faced, in a way....they agree with one extreme but 5 minutes later, agree with the other extreme. Maybe most of them are flip floppers and I agree that they need to get on the right train instead of standing at the station, waiting for the PERFECT train. It just ain't gonna come down the tracks anytime soon.

At least Joe Lieberman, for all the daggers he shoved into democratic backs, had a fighting chance to win the presidency.

30. I doubt the story very much
Not a single Dem would go on record saying s/he will support Roberts without first studying his record and demanding more papers. Having said that, I think the position of many of them is that they are going to choose their battles carefully and save the filibuster for the next appointment while treating this one as a replacement not for O'Connor but for Renquist, in which case it's more or less a wash. Then, when Renquist's seat comes up, they can say "We already gave you a conservative, now we need a centrist," and filibuster if necessary. If they filibuster now and fail (which is likely because quite a few Dems would peel off), that would definitely compromise the future filibuster. As much as it pains me to say so, I do see the political wisdom of letting this one go (unless something totally unexpected comes up) and keeping their powder dry.

XXXXX DRUDGE REPORT XXXXX SUN JULY 24, 2005 19:44:05 ET XXXXX

HILLARY CLINTON TO SUPPORT BUSH COURT NOMINEE

**Exclusive**

Senator Hillary Clinton has confided to associates that she intends to vote FOR Bush Supreme Court nominee John Roberts, the DRUDGE REPORT has learned.

Unless some unforeseen development occurs around Roberts, Clinton will throw her support behind confirmation, says a top source.

"Look, we're not thrilled President Bush is in office and gets to make these choices," said a top Hillary source, "but we have to make the best of the situation until the next election!"

*snip*

"She is simply doing what is right for the country, not MOVEON.ORG," the Clinton insider explained.

Perhaps Hillary herself?

I'm no fan of the woman, but she'd be pissing off a lot of pro-choice constituents by making such a call, especially this early on in the process.

Please don't waste electrons on a report from Sludge.

If and when Hillary actually voices her own support for Roberts, or votes for him, there will be more than enough electrons available to complain.
