My my my, the christians are back at it again!

The only ones cheering him are the ones who think is great that Old Glory flew on the Champs Elysees.

I just love hearing the Star-Spangled Banner played on the Champs Elysees. I just know how it (de)Gaulles the Frenchies.

Great achievement. Lance has the opportunity to make a difference in the lives of the youth of this country. I hope he doesn't screw it up by becoming a politician.

Wins one of the toughest tests of an athelete, gets cancer and beats it, comes back and wins again. This, #3, does not sound like a Democrat. Perhaps he has Crow on the brain.

Reply 13 - Posted by: NancyD, 7/24/2005 12:15:12 PM

Way to go Lance!

BTW, I believe that Lance campaigned for President Bush.

I think that Kerry thinks Armstrong should run for political office, however Kerry thought sadly to say, for the Other party in other words the GOP.

However, just because you are a popular and talented sports hero, doesn't mean that he has to ruin his life and become a politician!

Reply 14 - Posted by: rekfan, 7/24/2005 12:16:41 PM

Armstrong had a close relationship with trainer Michele Ferrari (convicted of dispensing illegal "medicines" to others). I imagine therefore that he will anounce any candidacy as a Democrat.

I admire Lance more than I can say, but I hope he retires quietly and gracefully and permanently. Because you have fame and an opinion does not a politician make you.

Reply 18 - Posted by: CaptRealEstate, 7/24/2005 12:27:33 PM

#13: No, I'm purty darn sure Lance campaigned for Kerry.

Especially sweet after the frogs hassled him with repeated drug testing. Another wonderful FU to the surrender monkeys. Gotta love it!

Seven straight victories, this has got to really annoy Chirac and the rest of France, to think that an American has shown up the rest of the world in an European sport that is not an American Sport. The Tour De France is owned by an American!!!!

Reply 24 - Posted by: Bigdog61, 7/24/2005 12:52:00 PM

If he is going to run for anything as a dim he'd better pick a state other than Texas.

Go to New York - they don't have any residency requirements for US Senators.

Reply 26 - Posted by: nightvision, 7/24/2005 12:54:56 PM

There's more to this than beating the French.

A lot of people think Armstrong's a creep.
He dumped his wife (who is the one who saw him through the whole cancer thing) for Sheryl Crow, who eventually dumped HIM. Maybe she realized he's not a loyal person.

Many have suspected he uses performance-enhancing drugs, but so far he has outsmarted the tests.

At best, he's a one-trick pony, and IMHO, his 15 minutes are up.

Astonsihing athlete... but a creep. (Like Johnny Depp)

Reply 28 - Posted by: Photoonist, 7/24/2005 1:09:13 PM

Armstrong's wife decided she didn't want to attempt a reconcilliation. If every poster here has had a flawless marriage(s), keep throwing stones. As for alleged drug use by Lance; never ever shown despite numerous tests. He is in phenomenal physical condition even compared to other cyclists. If you're going to use a lack of evidence to convict Lance, you must also be convicting President Bush of every accusation the leftoids make based on the same (lack of) logic.

Congratulations, Lance!

If you run for Senate as a Democrat in Texas, you'll have to be defeated, though, for your inexperience as well as your party.

In the meantime, our thanks for shoving France's face in it for the last 7 years.

'If you're going to use a lack of evidence to convict Lance, you must also be convicting President Bush of every accusation the leftoids make based on the same (lack of) logic.'

Duh! Talk about lack of logic!

Nobody's convicting Lance of anything except, possibly, of being a world-class jerk.

After his next, and hopefully, last, inevitable round of the talk show circuit, he will disappear forever.

The best part was hearing the Star Spangled Banner being played, seeing Old Glory flying there, and the Lone Star flag flying on that hotel! US and Texas!!! Not bad for a guy at death's doorstep a few years ago.

Also saw JF'nK-H being interviewed yesterday at the race, no doubt there taking care of the business of Massachusetts. Does the guy ever "work"?

Come on Folks, enought about politics.

Lance Armstrong is an Amercian Hero and he became such by beating The Frnech. YIPPEE!

Reply 41 - Posted by: howard227, 7/24/2005 1:55:25 PM

Tour de France - American owned and operated since 1999

Reply 47 - Posted by: Yorkiemom, 7/24/2005 3:30:42 PM

Terrific win for Lance and the USA. The article said that Pres. Bush called and congratulated him. Also, I remember seeing Lance, his former wife, and young son fly on Air Force One with Pres. Bush a few years ago, so I think they admire each other.

Anyone dating the anti American Sheryl Crow has to be a democrat. Lance came off as a real jerk with his first wife. I dont' think you have to be a jerk to be a success. In fact, most athletes who have good careers say it is because of the lasting marriage (Jack Nicklaus for instance just gave credit to his wife)
Lance is a good bike rider (BFD if you ask me) but sorry-he is a jerk.

Reply 51 - Posted by: michiganrepublican, 7/24/2005 4:00:39 PM

For one day, who cares about his politics. This is much bigger than that. If he runs for office as a liberal democrat I will of course do whatever I can to see him defeated. But for today he is an American champion with the uncommonly good sense to retire as a legend at the top of his game. You have to love that.

Heard a radio fellow advertising a gun show the other day and he said that they had one french army rifle, never fired and only dropped once.

Lance was born in a small Texas town in a trailer park. He really is a hero. And unfortunately he really is a jerk. He offends most of the time whenever he opens his mouth. Among other offenses, he dumped his wife, the one who saw him through the rough times. He likes the freakish Ms. Crow, for now.

He's earned everything he has. The other bikers swear he does drugs, but they say that they all do so who really knows? It is nice however, to rub the French noses in American victory.

8. Lance would not appreciate these comments,
I don't think. He loves the race, it is the most important, most prestigious cycling race in the world, and I am sure Lance is happy to win the Tour de France for several reasons - and not because he is beating the French. He would not like the lack of respect these people are showing towards it.

Of course, some French people dislike the fact he is always winning it, and would prefer a French cyclist to do well, but many are proud such a great cyclist is dedicating all his time to just one race.

As he said, "Vive la Tour, Forever."
