5. It's all show, it doesn't matter. They aren't going to get anyone we like.

If they shoot down Roberts, they'll get another Roberts. We were all so happy when Robert Bork and Alan Ginsberg were defeated, but because they were, Bush nominated Clarence Thomas. Eventually someone will be approved, and they won't be someone we like. We just have to decide whether to make a stand on this guy or not. It will mostly depend on what the public thinks, because they don't want to lose votes when it won't matter anyway.
