Sherrod Brown (D-OH) on R arrogance, CAFTA |
At a local D function yesterday, Congressman Brown stated that to make sure CAFTA passes, Bush is promising public works projects to Congressional supporters and is threatening opponents with the loss of committee chairmanships. Still, Brown thinks they might have the votes to stop it, except the vote will likely be in the middle of the night and the voting will remain open for hours until every supporter has voted. Also, this will give the WH a chance to pressure R opponents into changing their minds before the vote closes. They did the same thing on the Medicare "reform" measure.

1. Well, looks like the Rs are caving to an astromically bigger |
deficit if they support it. Nothing like digging your own grave.

2. Ultimately, it's up to the individual public servant... |
to do what's right. If they don't have the courage, or the will, then hopefully the people will remove them.
