Have conservatives apologized to you yet?
Edited on Mon Jul-25-05 09:37 AM by BOSSHOG
Remember back in late 2002, early 2003 when liberals and democrats were trashed and demeaned and demonized in every way because we were coherent and level headed and told the truth about bush and iraq and wmd? We suggested we slow down and proceed with caution. Remember? Fast forward to July 2005. No doubt in anybody's mind, liberals were right back then. So how many conservatives have come forward to shake your hand and humbly apologize for being the evil bastards they were trained to be? How many conservatives have looked you in the eye and said WE WERE WRONG? Sorry for such hardcore hilarious questions this early in the week.

2. Yes he did!
The good congressman from North Carolina came to his senses early this year. Hopefully more will follow his action before the bush hate machine has time to destroy him personally and professionally.

11. Yes. Well, sort of.
I think he just got worried that fallout from the misguided Iraq adventure will interfere with his primary agenda of establishing a theocracy in America, since so much of the one has been tied to the other by the administration.

7. Not really, but I did have a pleasing rapprochement
with a left-wing friend of mine who, despite everything, supported the invasion of Iraq because he hated Saddam and thought the Iraqis would be better off. We exchanged furious emails about it for months, as the war developed, and we both stuck to our guns. The most recent exchange was aroun the time of Saddam's capture. When it became clear the insurgency was going from strength to strength, we didn;t talk about it (we remained on perfectly cordial terms as long as we didn't talk/email about Iraq). A couple of months ago he said that he had changed his views about Iraq, and that although he was still pleased Saddam was gone, he said I was right about the disaster the war would turn out to be. He also said thank you for not "rubbing it in" when the insurgency took off after Saddam's capture - which wasn't why I stopped communicating at all, I was just sick of having to justify my position. Clearly, his position was collapsing at the time.

I hasten to add this isn't a "Hallelujah! I have converted him!" thread - my haranguing had nothing to do with it. He just followed the news.

I don;t feel any sense of achievement resulting from this at all. I could have said nothing and his opinion would have changed.

8. I haven't met any conservatives that have admitted they were wrong.
All they do is blame the liberal media for trashing Bush and not supporting the troops. They regurgitate the same R/W talking points (blaming Dems, liberals, gays, etc. for everything)-it's much easier to do that than actually try to objectively
analyze what's going on.
I'm not sure if I feel any different for those middle of the road types
that voted for Bush but now see his flaws. They claim ignorance of
what led up to the war and "how could they know?". Sorry, I was at demonstrations to stop this war before it started with thousands of others who knew what was going on. The truth was out there for everyone. It was just easier for some to buy the program and wave their
flags and freedom fries.

9. Why don't we take out a front-page ad in the NYT that says,
in five-inch high letters, WE TOLD YOU SO! Oh please, please; I wanna say it, just once!

10. Not a chance.
My brother, a fairly educated man, told me last Christmas that we found the WMD in Iraq. Er...actually, according to him, Poland found the WMD (a bunch of shaped charges supposedly used for making nuclear bombs) and naturally, the Evil Liburl Media™ wouldn't report it.

My other "friend" (I use that term loosely, as I barely talk to this person anymore) simply doesn't bring it up whenever we talk.

12. Like the reporter said: "When will Rove, Scooter & Bush publically
apologize to Plame for ruining her career & her husband's likely".

And apologize to all those friends of Valerie's abroad who are now under suspicion of being spies - some of them being informants and some of them doing nothing but minding their own business thinking she was just a business woman or the wife of a diplomat.

When will the public apology happen?
