Baghdad: 39 killed in two days. When do we get welcomed as liberators?
http://www.cnn.com/2005/WORLD/meast/07/25/iraq.main/index.html

BAGHDAD, Iraq (CNN) -- Fourteen Iraqis were killed Monday in two separate suicide car bombings in the country's capital, police officials and the Ministry of Defense reported.

In the first attack, 12 Iraqis died and 16 were wounded when a suicide car bomb detonated near a checkpoint leading to a hotel in Baghdad, a Defense Ministry statement said. The bomber drove his vehicle into the checkpoint for the Sadeer Hotel around 6:15 a.m. (10:15 p.m. ET Sunday), police said.

The vehicle exploded near a building housing guards for the hotel. Several guards were among the casualties, police said.

The same area was targeted March 9 when a suicide bomber drove an explosives-laden garbage truck into a courtyard near the hotel. Two people died in that blast. More than two hours later Monday, a suicide car bomb was detonated at an Iraqi police commando checkpoint, killing two commandos and wounding 11, according to an official with the Baghdad emergency police.

1. I Was Just Watching Noam Chomsky And The Thought
occurred to me. Does DEATH mean anything anymore?? Have we gone so far over the edge that numbers are meaningless???

It seems to me that unless you talk in THOUSANDS, there are VERY FEW people really listening!! Moreover, unless you are one of those "human beings" who has lost a loved one most of the rest don't seem to care.

A song comes to mind that Bob Dylan wrote and was sung by Peter, Paul & Mary... I'm sure you ALL know what that song was. How Many Lives????

Then there are those who HAVE lost loved ones in Iraq who say, "at least they died doing something for their country"! WHAT?????

3. I had to HUNT for an Iraq story this morning...
...and I think, in many ways, there's a degree of apathy toward the war.

Dead soldiers? Dead Iraqis?

"We're at war."

OH...so THAT'S it.

Maybe we could start moving toward "not being at war?"

"We're at war until terra is defeated. We are firm in our resolve."

So every day the body count climbs, and the media rubs itself raw over how Roberts is the next best thing to the Baby Jesus.

It's disgusting.

2. I'm sure the Iraqi's don't feel that this is liberation.
It's more like the school bully come to take you milk money and the Iraqi's know that. B*shco just makes sure their voices aren't heard.
