Would Scalia or Thomas get confirmed today?
My dad asked if I'd oppose either one today. Saying "Roberts isn't as conservative as either one, so how can he be extreme?"

THoughts?

1. We have no information as to whether or not Roberts is
as conservative as either of those two. The hearings haven't started yet, we just have the word of a bunch of right-wing pundits who want the guy confirmed.

3. Thomas was confirmed 52-48 by a Senate
Edited on Mon Jul-25-05 04:59 PM by elperromagico
that had a Dem majority of D-55, R-45.

Scalia was confirmed 98-0 by a Senate that had a Rep majority of R-53, D-47.

Currently, the Senate has a Rep majority of R-55, D-44, I-1.

Does that help to answer the question?

Guess we've just answered that question. :D

Anyway, I've corrected the mistake. It was D-55, R-45.

8. I don't know
How Scalia would do. But I think Thomas would get confirmed on an almost strictly party line vote.
