The Washington Note: MSNBC Firm on Bolton and PlameGate
The Washington Note: MSNBC Firm on Bolton and PlameGate
July 25th, 2005

Despite the fact that the White House is hinting at a recess appointment for Bolton, Steve Clemons of the TWN reports that ‘ MSNBC reports to TWN that its source on Bolton being interviewed by the Valerie Plame Wilson grand jury “is unimpeachable.” ‘

MSNBC is standing “firmly” by its story — and is shirking off the fact that other networks and major news organizations have been unable to confirm what MSNBC feels is a solid fact.

There are now rumblings, given what has been reported in the media, that various Senators may request the State Department to clarify whether or not Mr. Bolton met with the grand jury and/or its investigators. If he did so, they may ask when this took place.

5. Yeah, if he failed to disclose that on his nomination forms
his goose might be cooked as UN ambassador. I don't know--can't count on * to do the right thing--or Congress.

7. Bolton's nomination is dead
Bush will have to give him a recess appointment, which should knock Bolton's credibility into negative numbers at the UN. No one will trust him, no one will deal with him unless they absolutely have to. And what does it say about the administration that they won't or can't nominate someone who can pass the Senate process?

8. I think the rest of * term is lame duck anyway.
Other than Roberts on SCOTUS, I don't think shrub will get much accomplished. However, taking into account everything he's screwed up until now, it will take 3 generations to undo it all.
