Isn't it time for a massive, colossal, 4-5 million-person protest?
I think it's time for everyone (and their brother) who opposes this evil, vile, shameful, insulting, sickening, corrupt, administration to come together in the largest protest ever assembled on U.S. soil.

It would be peaceful, uplifting, productive--and it would showcase to this country and the world--that "We The People" have had enough.

ENOUGH!

There are often wonderful protests--organized by ambitious patriots. Sometimes these protests coalesce around a single issue (Downing Street, Voter fraud, etc)

How about the mother-of-all get togethers that provides a massive tent for anyone who is unhappy with this administration and desperately wants their country returned to them?

Upset about the Plame abuses? This is your protest! Sick of Bush stealing elections? This is your protest! Tired of the neocons sanctioning torture? This is your protest! Fed up with being lied to every day? This is your protest! Frustrated by the erosion of environmental laws? This is your protest! Ashamed because your pResident can't ride a bike to save his life? This is your protest!

Whatever the reason--maybe we could fit everyone under a big umbrella and peacefully organize in massive, never-before-seen numbers.

Some suggested cities for this protest (and I swear these are the names of REAL cities):

Burning Bush, Georgia

Monkey's Eyebrow, Arizona

Liberal, Kansas

America, Oklahoma

Nutbush, Tennessee

Give everyone a few months to plan, arrange travel and make other arrangements and viola--we're HISTORY!

:)

2. I'm sorry, but I don't think that would do a damn bit of good.
I hate to say this, but I really don't think marches will do a damn thing. The fascists don't care what the hell 5, 10, 30 million people think. We need some serious Ghandi actions by these millions of people. Unfortunately, I don't think that many people have the guts.

5. Yeah, Bushie called the 5 million that marched against the war
a "focus group" and the media didn't even cover it - let's face it, without media coverage everyone in America could march and no one would know about it - well, that's a stupid statement, but you know what I mean.

15. Who cares what the bushevick said? Do you? Fuck him.
If you stay nice an cozy in you home and watch the tube all day,,, thats just what they want. Shut the freaking thing off and get off your butt just once this year.

I think 1 million people in the streets of Wash. would be a nice touch. It would tie that city up like a constipated gorilla.

3. I'm with you but I just don't feel like anyone is leading.
We could really use a great leader right now.

4. I'm there too! I want a president who isn't afraid of horses....
Oh...and then there's the napalm thing, the medicare stuff, the energy task force issue, the niger event, the smearing, the incompetence, and....let's see, the lying, the Edmonds stuff, the Plame problems, the August pdb debacle, 700 million crap, the ridiculous Bolton embarrassment, the Halliburton corruption, the AWOL secret, the Swiftboat lies, the social security scam, pillage and rape of our environment, the deliberate marginalization of academics and science, the dividing of America based on political party or race or sexual orientation, the manipulation of the fourth estate, and the small problem of the deficit.

Really. I'd fly or drive anywhere to contribute to a serious, major, impactful march. Pitchforks and torches optional?

9. It's just amazing to me why people haven't already taken to the streets.
If there ever was a time for a massive protest that would give out real information to a truth-starved nation, now is the time. No special-interest speeches, just speeches about lies/Iraq war, lies/Plame, lies/DSM, lies/corporate crime....nothing but information to the public that they will never hear from the MSM or FOX.

10. It's long overdue--particulary needed is a massive march on DC
Edited on Tue Jul-26-05 05:43 AM by Skidmore
of the magnitude of the civil rights marches. Every little splinter group out there that organizes artsy cutesy theatrical displays on a small scale should be seeking common cause with all the nation. Simplify the message--decent policy making for a decent people...we we want our honor back...no more lies... Leave Mumia out of it. There is a time and place for the Mumia people, but this would not be it. Simplify and return to basics, plain speak, lose the cutesy crap. Carry signs with dignity.

12. Sept. 24th is IMO, too far away and United for Peace is great, BUT
We need someone like Move On to organize the heads of ALL these groups and pick a date and do it together. Every group should be there. The media is trying (somewhat) to get their voice again, who the hell knows what will happen by Sept.? If all the groups were present, we'd have millions taking a march.. and it would STOP the city in it's tracks, hard to not cover, wouldn't it be?

That's my 2 cents.
