Bush to announce Boy Scout draft in Jamboree speech Wednesday

Richmond Va (API)-Advance copies of President Bush's speech to the Boy Scouts Jamboree at Fort A.P. Hill outside of Richmond has some members of Congress alarmed and others supportive.

President Bush will address the over 40,000 Boy Scouts Wednesday night. He will use this up close and personal opportunity to unveil Department of Defense plans to immediately enlist all those present into the military. The "Patriotism Early Defense Initiative" aims to utilize the training, readiness, and unit cohesiveness of the BSA.

In a joint press conference early Tuesday Republican Congressman Duncan Hunter and Senator Rick Santorum pointed out what they saw as the attributes of this visionary step by the President. Hunter began "Look lots of tax payer money has already go into this why not take advantage of it, you know uh...." "reap what you sow" Santorum finished. Hunter added, "And on top of that they already have their own uniforms which will save the taxpayers lots of money"

Secretary of Defense Donald Rumsfeld was asked when this initiative started and replied, "The question we need to ask is 'Are they ready? Can they serve their country NOW when we need them? Some say that their smaller size greatly reduces the chances of shrapnel from IEDs in, lets say, Iraq from hitting them. Is that the case? I don't know no one can be sure." Rumsfeld went on to answer those and other question he posed.

Reports of the security details being moved outside the perimeter fencing could not be confirmed at press time. DoD officials announced that all traffic in and out of the Army post will be restricted starting immediately.
