If Hillary feels that she must appear to be a "moderate" to win...? |
|
then why wouldn't the Democrats simply pick a "moderate" to begin with? Somebody like a Bayh or the Governor of Virginia? Why do we have to have these pretend "moderates" when we can choose the real thing? Does she think we have to have a "moderate" candidate to win the presidency?

1. Bayh and Warner are DLC too. Don't know that I call them mods. |
|
Might be wrong on this as I have yet to find a definitive link to the ever-changing list, but I know I have seen both their names on lists of DLCers before.

The Democrats pick someone who can both represent the Democratic Party and the American people? Ya know, the Demoratic Party is made up of some very fine people.
This idea that we are divided is bullshit that is a constant meme. When I talk to republicans, and I do, I emphasize that we have more in common than the issues upon which we differ.
We are all tired of "special interests" especially corporate interests dictating the agenda. All of us want an end to the pork. We all want our country to live up to its ideals.
The problem with Hillary is that she thinks that talking-the-talk is a substitute for standing up for what is right and just, because her political career is more important to her than "love of country."
BTW, the voters that I talked to see right through her, and are insulted by her pandering.

8. Why all the carping over Hillary?? |
|
IMHO she is our best bet to win back the White House in '08 but only if ALL of us get behind her and stop the nonsensical complaining about her running as a moderate. The Clinton's know how to stick it to the Rethugs, play their game and take none of their crap. That is the only type of Dem candidate that stands a chance against these bastards at the current time.
What we don't need is another Kerry who will wilt and fold under the heat of the Repub attack machine. We all know they will come after whomever the Dem candidate is with a vengeance and we must meet fire with fire. Hillary will not fold and has never been one to back down from a fight. She is our best bet and the sooner we realize that, the better position we will be in to take back this nation. We can ill afford another loss and must place our best and brightest candidate out there and Hillary is by far that person.

27. She is already showing what a lousy candidate she would be |
|
She has no idea...no clue how to deal with the gaping CHASM between Beltway/establishment strategists/powerbrokers and the foot soldiers. She thinks that by attaching her name to the DLC and their policies that it will make it more palatable to those on the "left." That just shows how completely out of touch she is. It will only taint her.

9. Republicans will never vote for Hillary |
|
Even though she's blatantly pandering to the right, as long as Mush Limpdick and his hate radio colleagues cast her as the "librul antichrist", that will be how she's percieved by the right wing..
So Hillary (or insert any other DLC candidate here) continues moving to the right, in pursuit of Republican votes that they will never get, while alienating the Democratic base and the so called "Nader voters" who just might vote for a Democrat if they actually gave a flying fuck about someone other than corporations and defense contractors.
Exactly how the fuck does this make any sense?

although I really don't think that mixing liberal social views with hawkish foreign policy and moral crusades *should* qualify as being moderate.

18. Running a moderate vs a liberal is the wrong way to look at it. |
|
People were turned off by Kerry because he came across as another phony, speak out of both sides of the mouth, pandering politician. Being a liberal did not cost Kerry the election. Clinton is the ultimate, pandering, will say or do anything to get elected politician. The Republicans are successfully painting the Democratic Party as a party of self-serving POLITICIANS, not leaders who can guide this country through a difficult time. Did you ever wonder why they are always complimenting H. Clinton's political maneuvering to the center? Hmmm.... maybe because in the primary they can sell her to the Democrats as an accomplished politician with the best chances of winning back the Whitehouse (while in the general election hammering home that she is a phony, say or do anything to get elected politician, without any core values or beliefs).
During these difficult times do you really want the ULTIMATE politician serving as commander-in-chief (someone who will base their decisions on what will benefit them best politically)? We've all seen where that has led us. Do we want to continue down the same path?

Well, I sat and talked with young republicans in a Little Rock lounge. They are insulted by this pandering and see right through it. They also like to make up their own minds about what video games they play. They will never vote for Hillary even though they are not as far to the right as their parents.
Oh, fwiw, they all liked General Clark, and would vote for him. Go figure? Standing up and telling it like it is has advantages.

fact that nominating the ultimate, phony, pandering politician is a sure loser in 08 and will further cripple the Democratic Party. I've concluded it's not that Rove is such a genius, it's that the Democrats are so stupid.

the Democratic progressive who, nevertheless comes across as moderate to the Red State voters we are trying to reach. He is the only one blasting the origins of the Iraq fiasco, and not taking flak because of his impeccable military and foreign policy credentials. He is also the only Dem. who can talk openly to them(and be accepted) about faith and morals, while being pro-choice, pro-affirmative action, pro-environment, pro-progressive tax policies, and a gun-owner and hunter who says "If you want to use an AK47, there's a place for you in the military--come sign up." It's time more Democrats realized what a treasure we have in Wes Clark. Not since Bobby Kennedy has someone come along to inspire us. He can pick off enough Red States that the election day map in 2008 will be a sea of blue.

Wes Clark not only must run to the left, he's the only one that can. He can point out the Pentagon pork and republican and Democratic voters can all shake their heads "yes." One bushbot told me that he likes General Clark because he would never say anything bad about a general, and (this one made me snork) Hannity likes the General. OMG.
I mean how many nervous gun owners will trust Hillary Clinton?
Anyway, the General is a team player, and since the Clintons control the party and thus, the nomination, I would imagine that he will campaign for her. A sad day for me. For on that day, I will leave the Clark fold and send that great man my regrets.

he has a clear set of accomplishments he can speak of. The way I see it, is if you're going to run a moderate, atleast try to win. Hillary would be a disaster.
What has Hillary really done as a senator? She's introducing video game legislation? What is the appeal of her? Honestly, I just don't see any.
