He refuses to let the campaign make the comparison.

Consider the following:
- Both were/are rich - Both were Democrats - Both were U.S. Senators from Massachusetts - Both attended elite prep schools - Both attended Ivy League colleges - Both served as officers in the Navy - Both commanded small vessels during a war in Asia - Both married wealthy, glamorous women (who could speak French) - Both had fathers who served as diplomats - Both had the initials JFK
I think the similarities are very interesting.

JK never uses his initials in that manner nor does he compare himself to John Kennedy. The media doesn't do it, nobody does it, except here it seems. Sour grapes.

I read in an article (the Boston Globe, I believe) that Kerry frequently called himself JFK during his prep school days.

he liked showing off how he had the same initials as the president. there is nothing wrong with that. but he stopped doing it as he got older.

Yes, they have the same initials. But I would find it offensive if Kerry starts using the "JFK' handle.
To paraphrase Lloyd Bentsen: "Senator, we knew Jack Kennedy. Senator, you're no Jack Kennedy."

20. I think it's a bad idea for another reason. |

The name Forbes has such an elitist aura. I don't think it helps him to draw more attention to his WASPy upper class upbringing.

If that's true, then the whole "Oh, PLEASE do not compare me to J. Fitzgerald!" thing is bullSHIAT.
Later.

27. We've had comment after comment of "JOHN KERRY WOULD NEVER!..." |
|
And there that is. I'm just SAYING that for a guy who doesn't want ANY comparison, embossing "JFK" on the suitcase that houses bills and official papers is kinda strange. That's all.
Later.

32. Now that really makes sense. He is not allowed to put his |
|
initials on anything because they are the same as Kennedy's. Listen up everyone. Anyone with the following names will no longer be able to put their initials on their luggage.
Frederick David Rogers,
Harold Stephen Thomas
James Frederick Kerstan
Lawrence Bruce Jameson

It isn't cool.
But he's entitled to use his monogram on his luggage or whatever, just as anyone with those initials would be.
I just don't think he should invoke JFK in his political life. Seems Eddie Haskell-ish.
