Do you trust Fitzgerald?
I really don't know much about him, but he appears to be doing a rather thorough job uncovering what happened regarding the leak, and more important, WHY it happened.

But he may simply be setting us up for disappointment.

What are your thoughts?

1. I believe he's a principled Republican
(I know, I know...sounds like an oxymoron these days)

11. He's not a Republican
He has no party affiliation. It is assumed he is a Republican because he was appointed by Bush, but he is not officially a Republican. He got his job mostly because Senator Fitzgerald was pissed at the higher ups in the GOP and wanted to teach them a lesson, so he got Patrick Fitzgerald appointed US Attorney from his state, knowing that he'd end up giving them trouble in one way or another.

6. He has been very busy over here in Chicago
We are going through our semi-annual corruption season. This one is a doozy.

5. fitzgerald
I do trust him. I believe he is a fair man. He also does not seem to have any political aspirations. He is not a Republican but an independent. I thought the same thing before I read some articles about him. I think he just wants to know the truth. The reason why it's taking so long is because he wants to do a thorough job.

There is an interesting article about him in the Washington Post. It was written last February but it still gives some interesting background about him.

7. hope beyond hope
Thus far I have few facts to say anything about what Fitzgerald is doing. Everything about him is pure hope, not based on facts, because I simply have no knowledge of what on earth he's doing.

8. I don't know. But, throwing Judith Miller in Jail raised my opinion of him
Still...we've had so many disappointments, it's hard to say until the end of the investigation. I'm hoping that we on the "Internets" can get all the info out so that whatever he does, Rove will still be "toast." His reputation will be ruined.

And, John Dean always urged Wilson to go for a Civil Suit. So, if Fitz doesn't come through then Wilson could go that way and John Dean (FindLaw.com) said that MORE info could be gotten from going with a civil suit (records HAVE to be released) than with the Grand Jury option.

don't know why Wilson went the Grand Jury Option but we need to remember that Paul Jones managed to get the Supremes to allow her Civil Suit against a sitting President...and she got all kinds of info out of the WH. So Wilson could keep this going if he did what she did. It sure seems like he has a case, here. And, Rove isn't Clinton or a President even if he's "Bush's Brain."

10. Wilson didn't choose a grand jury;
The case was turned over to a special prosecutor by the CIA. Asscrack got the case but had to recuse himself since he & kkkarl go way back. It was never Wilson's choice.

Also, I wonder if Joe Wilson could sue in a civil case. Maybe Valerie Wilson nee Plame could. She was the one whose career as a covert agent was ruined.

14. Actually, John Dean suggested this before Justice turned it over to
Fitzgerald. He urged Wilson in a column to go for a "Civil Suit."

His wife would probably have to do it...but Dean urged "them" to go the Civil route. So just like with O.J. Simpson who had a rough time in the Civil Suit after being cleared of Murder, it would be an option that Wilsons could persue.

9. Yep I do, from what I've read about him on the net
There is always that slim chance that he cannot come up with anything, but I won't doubt his efforts.

I'm hesitant to believe all the leaks I hear since a lot of them seem to be coming from Luskin. The WH does seem scared though...

13. Watching him in action for the last five years
Not just trying to keep Ryan and the Daley gangs in line, but actually doing it

Yeah I trust him. Wouldn't want anyone else on the Plame issue.

15. I trust him implicitly.
I have watched him for several years now in Illinois as he went after the most powerful people in the state on both sides of the aisle. If there was a crime, he will find it.

16. If he's good enough for Joe Wilson he's fine with me
Joe Wilson told a group of us that he trusted Fitzgerald as a career government employee. Wilson said that most of the people he knew in government were excellent people and could put their jobs and the constitution ahead of politics. He said he trusted him to conduct a fair investigation. That works for me.
