Why does this White House think it can withhold documents
that pertain to the very people it wants to give jobs?

Tensions run high over Roberts documents
White House withholding most recent records; GOP seeks date for vote
Updated: 6:23 p.m. ET July 26, 2005
WASHINGTON - Senate Republicans, determined to seat John Roberts in time for the Supreme Court’s fall term, pressed Democrats Tuesday to agree on a timetable for a vote amid political wrangling over how much of Roberts’ past legal writings must be made available.

The maneuvering unfolded as Roberts continued a round of courtesy calls on members of the Senate and the White House made available a limited number of documents from his tenure as a special assistant at the Justice Department from 1981-1982.

Administration officials say they will refuse to make available a larger number of documents dating from Roberts’ time in the solicitor general’s office from 1989 to 1993.

2. Because they can
The WH knows it has the advantage... Roberts WILL be confirmed, the Democrats know they do not have the numbers to successfully oppose him. Therefore, the Bushies know they can withhold documents with every confidence that their man will join the SC despite their refusal to cooperate. No news there... when have they ever cooperated with Dems anyway.

3. Because they know they can
Who's gonna call them on it? The media? And even if some Democrats do try to cause a stir, the Republicans will just ignore -- without penalty.

Look, over here! Startling new developments from Aruba!

6. Who's going to stop them?
This regime is the most secretive and arrogant in this nation's history. From burying the papers of previous administrations to completely opaque Energy Task Force meetings to adminstraion appointees that are TOTALLY loyal to the regime ... there's been nothing to FORCE them to do a damned thing. The SCOTUS has no Army -- and it's aligned with the regime anyway.

8. This White House is above questions, above providing answers, ....
above truth and above the law. You'll never get any answers, specially straight answers.

9. Why is the WH even involved in Robert's Documents?
Bush nominated him. After that, it should be up to Congress to consider his qualifications.

10. Because they can and they have...
They have done this type of thing since day 1 and no one has called them on it. They ignore the law and all the rules and they ignore any entity that tells them they can't do...whatever. They have ignored Supreme Court rulings regarding prisoners at gitmo....they have ignored the courts over the rest of the Abu Garib pictures...who is going to stop them or even really report this news? Is this a screaming 24 pt headline? Nope. Is any media calling Rove and all the rest of this gang traitors? Nope. Is anyone calling them criminals? Nope.

They do it because they can and thus keep some of the people in the dark for yet another day.
