6. I suspect that while the repukes were saying many of the same

things back then as we are now, the democrats were saying many of the same things back then as the repukes are now (supporting the president, doing "what's right", stopping genocide, etc...)

Hey, I agree with you about the principles of it all, but I don't think this is going to give up very much mileage politically. We can argue that the Repukes only felt as they did back then because Clinton was president, they can argue the same about Democrats and * now. In the end, it will mostly be about politicians playing "gotcha", and while it's important to do that occasionally, it rarely leads to anything positive being done.

Also, it seems like whenever there's a situation that could cause both sides to look bad to their base, it seems like everyone in Washington just ignores it. It's more important to them to keep the status quo than risk losing any support (or unfortunately, risk gaining any support either).

Just my opinion as to why this hasn't been used, though.
